Rehabilitation Counselor Senior
Forensic Services located on the campus of the St. Peter Regional Treatment Center is looking for a compassionate Rehabilitation Counselor Senior to join its team. The Rehabilitation Counselor Senior will provide counseling techniques in order to conduct effective interviews and to assist patients in completing the rehabilitation plan. The Rehabilitation Counselor Senior communicates orally and written to potential sources of referrals to negotiate with employers and service providers. The Rehabilitation Counselor Senior does budget planning to ensure patient and caseload expenditures are sufficient.
Job duties include:
Complete comprehensive assessments in order to determine the need and eligibility for vocational services.
Participate in team processes and other reviews of patient progress
Match patients and their skills/needs with available resources
Counsel patients on their vocational strengths and needs in order to achieve progress and success
Manage assigned financial resources
Comply with all Federal, State, and St. Peter Regional Treatment Center policies and procedures as well as all safety and health standards
Qualifications & Requirements Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or closely related field (e.g., Rehabilitation Teaching, Counseling and Guidance, Therapeutic Recreation) and
Two years of professional-level experience providing teaching, counseling, behavioral management and/or rehabilitation (physical, occupational, and/or recreational therapies) services to mentally ill and dangerous or adjudicated sex offender populations.
A Master's degree in one of the above fields may substitute for one year of experience.
General understanding of state and federal regulations regarding affirmative action, sub-minimum wage, and targeted jobs tax credit certification
Experience in assessing client based needs in the area of independent community living skills and providing training in these skills.
