We are seeking a Manager of Protective Services to direct Security Shift Supervisors and officers involved in establishing, promoting, and maintaining the Museum's security and property protection programs. This position reports to the Director of Protective Services.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
„X Enforcing operational procedures for fire prevention and firefighting, traffic control, guarding and patrolling physical property, orienting and monitoring of personnel involved with classified information, and investigating accidents and criminal acts.
„X Helping to formulate and ensuring staff compliance with policies and coordination of activities of Protective Services staff with Museum staff during Museum activities.
„X Conferring with representatives of local government to ensure cooperation and coordination of Museum activities with law enforcement and firefighting agencies.
„X Preparing the payroll for all non-exempt security supervisors and officers, tracking time off requests, and maintaining schedules.
„X Carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Museum's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
„X Ensuring subordinates comply with all policies and procedures.
„X Performing other related duties as assigned by management.
The ideal candidates should have a Bachelor¡¦s degree and at least five years of experience in the security industry. Candidates are required to have completed the 8 Hour Security Pre-Assignment Certificate, the 16 Hour Security OJT Certificate, and to have a Security Officer License. The candidate will either have or obtain within six months of hiring an F-03 Public Assembly license. FDNY Certificate of Fitness for Fire Safety Director required or must obtain within one year of hire.

Qualifications & Requirements The ideal candidate will possess basic computer proficiency with the ability to enter, change, and review data in database software. Proficient in Word and Excel documents. Additional requirements are: an ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals; and an ability to write routine reports and correspondence; an ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the Museum. An ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations is required. Good interpersonal communication skills and an ability to supervise, train, and motivate staff effectively are required. Ability to work weekends, holidays and evenings as necessary.
