Senior Development Manager Position Summary
The Senior Development Manager will report to the Managing Director, while working with Caring Across Director and Founder Ai-jen Poo and program leads to secure funding and resources on an ambitious scale to achieve landmark policy and cultural change. The ideal candidate will be able to manage a foundation portfolio with ease, know how and where to prospect for the Campaign, and is a pro at working to make sure we stay on top of communication with funders and grant cycles. You are hungry to grow your own skill set and will work enthusiastically with the Caring Across staff to grow our budget 50% over the next 3 years. Your fundraising skills will power our grassroots work in 16 states, help us fund culture change that fundamentally changes how care is given, received, and valued in this country, and leverage the success of the campaign to build and sustain an individual and small foundation donor base.
Your time and energy will be focused in three main areas: 1. Supporting and coordinating with our founder and chief fundraiser, Ai-jen Poo and her team to, apply for, land, and report on large foundation grants;
2. Working with our Program Directors to pitch funders on the importance of Caring Across and our mission; and
3. Prospecting small and family foundations, as well as major donors
Qualifications & Requirements Specifically, your daily work will include the following responsibilities: ● Coordinate with and support Director’s team on all major funder outreach, meetings, events, and communications.
● Work with our consulting grant writer to manage and drive all grant, proposals, reports, and funding applications.
● Manage grants calendar, fundraising agendas and revenue tracking mechanisms.
● Conduct research on and outreach to family and other small foundations, as well as major individual donors for potential investment in Caring Across Generations.
● Manage all development-related documentation (e.g. grant agreements, proposal and reporting packages, etc.)
● Plan and execute regular “Care Table” funder meetings designed to encourage strategic partnership and communication with funders. Deliverable tracking for internal and external audiences.
● Strategize with our team about the best approach to introduce new funders to Caring Across and prepare us to make the asks.
● Support Campaign leadership to leverage their platforms and networks to raise funds.
● Minimum of 6 years of fundraising experience.
● Ability to passionately and effectively communicate with funders and the public about our work and issues.
● Demonstrated results in securing funding from individuals, corporations and/or foundations. ● Demonstrated ability to develop, foster and sustain relationships with institutional program officers and with individual donors.
● Strong social justice lens and an appetite to undo racism, sexism, misogyny, classism, ableism, homophobia, xenophobia, and other forms of oppression. ● Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
● Strong detail orientation and very organized.
● Ability to work collaboratively as part of a small staff team that is geographically diverse. ● Ability to work effectively with diverse groups and people.
● Ability to produce quality work in a flexible and fast-paced environment.
● Availability for travel.

Compensation, Benefits and Work Schedule This is a full-time, non-exempt position, with occasional evening and weekend work based on need. The annual salary will be $70,000 - $80,000 commensurate with experience. Position based in New York City or Washington DC strongly preferred, but we are open to remote for the right person. Caring Across Generations is a project of, and fiscally sponsored by, Bend the Arc: A Jewish Partnership for Justice. Bend the Arc offers a comprehensive benefits package including:
