Elford, Inc. wishes to enhance our commitment in support of our diversity initiative by investing in the education of our future construction leaders by offering a $500 scholarship to be awarded annually to a child of an owner and/or employee of a Central Ohio MBE / FBE / EDGE / DBE certified business directly affiliated with Elford, Inc.
SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS
A. Eligibility:
The applicant must be between the ages of 17 – 23 and pursuing a higher education 1. degree in the construction, architectural, or engineering field, or from an institution offering programs in any of the construction trades.
The applicant can be an employee of a Central Ohio MBE/FBE/EDGE/DBE certified 2. business or their parent / guardian must be an owner and/or employee of a Central Ohio MBE / FBE / EDGE / DBE certified business, affiliated with Elford, Inc. (Central Ohio includes the counties of Delaware, Fairfield, Franklin, Licking, Madison, Pickaway, and Union).
B. Submittal:
The applicant must submit the attached application and a typed / written 500 - 750 1. word essay answering the questions below.

C. Judging / Award
Elford’s selection committee will review the submitted applications and essays and 1. select one (1) recipient for the scholarship.
The recipient of the Diversity Initiative Scholarship will be notified by Wednesday 2. August 1, 2012. He or She will be presented with a $500 check paid to the order of an institution of his or her choice at our quarterly minority outreach luncheon.
D. Essay Question
Please respond to the following three questions in a 500 – 750 word typed essay.
1. Why have you chosen the construction industry for your career path?
2. Describe a challenge faced by the construction industry today.
3. How do you hope to help alleviate this challenge?
