The Coca-Cola Foundation has awarded a $50,000 grant to Alcorn State University to provide Coca-Cola First Generation Scholarships to four students who are the first in their families to go to college. Each student will receive $12,500 in scholarships over four years.
A first for Alcorn, this grant is part of $7.4 million in grants awarded by the Foundation for education in the first quarter, with more than $4.3 million in First Generation Scholarship grants. Including these grants, the Foundation awarded $26 million to benefitting organizations across the globe.
Minimum scholarship criteria:
- Not have a biological parent or sibling that has attended college
- Not have previously received a baccalaureate degree
- Enroll full-time at Alcorn State University
- Maintain a grade point average of 2.8 (4.0 scale)
