College students with an interest in copy editing are invited to apply for $6,500 in scholarships plus financial aid to attend the 2015 American Copy Editors Society national conference in Pittsburgh.
Four scholarships of $1,000 each will be awarded, and a fifth is for $2,500. To be eligible, you must be at least a college junior pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree or be a recent graduate. You should have a commitment to a career in copy editing and a record of exemplary work and academic achievement. The scholarships are awarded by the ACES Education Fund, a 501(3)c organization. For the 2014-15 scholarship, the application rules have changed slightly. Applicants are asked to write a brief essay (up to 500 words) on the aspects of copy editing most important in a multi-media world and should complete the other requirements listed under the How to Apply tab on the scholarship's web site. The scholarship competition is administered by Alex Cruden, vice president of the ACES Education Fund, and independently judged by professional editors across the United States. | |
