Kennerly Loutey Injury Law Essay Scholarship (548) Save Scholarship/Grant
This scholarship/grant was graciously shared with you by: Max Kennerly.
Law school classes are hard enough. Financial difficulties make it even worse, and we havenít forgotten how difficult law school was for us ó and how expensive it is, too. So we set up the Kennerly Loutey Injury Law Essay Scholarship to make it easier for a student every year.

Itís a $2,000 prize to the top essay, as chosen by us.

Who can enter?

You must be:

A United States resident
A student at an ABA-accredited law school. You can be a newly-admitted 1L all the way up to a spring semester 3L.
What do you have to do?

Before May 1, 2017, write a 500 to 1,000 word essay on why Palsgraf v. Long Island Railroad Co., 248 N.Y. 339, 162 N.E. 99 (N.Y. 1928) was wrongly decided, and complete the entry form on this page.

It doesnít matter what you personally think about Palsgraf. Part of what you learn as a lawyer is learning how to put aside your personal feelings and make an argument for your client. You are free to draw upon cases decided after Palsgraf to make your argument.

Please provide us your name, your email, your phone number, your law school, and your current year in law school. We wonít sell or use your contact information to spam you and we donít claim any copyright to your essays.

What do you win?

A simple $2,000 check to you personally.

We canít comment on the tax consequences because, as you already know or will learn shortly, lawyers who arenít tax lawyers canít give tax advice. We ourselves are not paying this out of any sort of charity or fund, and we donít accept contributions towards the scholarship. Itís just from us to you.
