While many of us recover from a Thanksgiving Day feast, just as many people in communities around Historically Black Colleges and Universities eat little to nothing and continue to go hungry every day. Hunger has become a serious issue. We're ready to do something about it and we need the help of our TJF family.
This year, we've teamed up with our longtime partner, Denny's, to help eliminate food shortages in HBCU communities by initiating the "Hungry for Education" scholarship. Nine deserving students from designated HBCUs have a chance to receive a $2,000 scholarship from Denny’s and the Tom Joyner Foundation. In addition to the scholarship, one student will receive $2,000 to launch the winning program. The deadline to apply is December 1, 2017.
If you know of a community-minded student who is currently enrolled at an HBCU, forward this email to him or her. Then, spread the word on your social media pages.
It will take a village to end hunger. Let's get the young people of the village involved today.
