Finalists must confirm acceptance and participation by TUESDAY, April 30, 2024. About The E.S.T.E.A.M. Project:An acronym for Entrepreneurship, Science, Technology, Engineering Arts and Math. The E.S.T.E.A.M. Project - an exciting weekend filled with inspiration, impactful life lessons, skill building, and networking will kick off a 4-week long curriculum with HBCUs. Students will enjoy curated discussions, engaging motivational speakers, local cuisine, and memorable activities. Attendees will explore how coding, app development, and STEAM training can help them find success in a range of career paths. You'll leave empowered with new life and tech skills and infused with a renewed sense of hope and connections of sisterhood. Participants will learn to code using Apple’s Everyone Can Code curriculum. In addition to coding, The E.S.T.E.A.M. Project will further prepare and empower young women to be future leaders through lessons in cultivating wellness, creative thinking, esteem building, and problem-solving.
Application Criteria:1. Applicant must be a woman enrolled at an HBCU and in good standing. - Rising sophomores through seniors are encouraged to apply. (Seniors who will still be enrolled in fall 2024 are welcome to apply.)- A current unofficial transcript will be required to verify enrollment. 2. Applicants should be available for the entire duration of the program, which includes both in-person and virtual sessions. The in-person kick-off weekend of events will take place from May 31 to June 2, 2024, and the virtual coding curriculum course extends from June 3 to June 30, 2024. This ensures that participants can fully and actively engage in the program's diverse activities, curriculum, and opportunities 3. Applicant should demonstrate some interest in coding. Prior experience with coding is helpful but not required. 4. The program is open to students in all majors/areas of study. 5. Applicants should be collaborative and open to creative problem-solving. Successful applications will be selected by board members of the Arise And Shine Foundation and a select committee of the program's strategic planning members.
