Hampton c/o '09 is here...

Hey ya'll. This is Patricia from the Chi. My girl and right hand woman, Alex and I will be making our debut at Hampton this fall. We went to visit during open house and participated in teh Leadership Institute High School Summit and it was raw! I love the campus and the people were so nice. We just hung out in Pierce Hall all night (until 1, i think) and it was so fun! The boys were nice and weren't thirsty and disrespectful. I visited Howard in August and it did not impress me in the slightest bit. Maybe I didn't like it because I don't like Washington D.C. It's so dirty (no offense but being from Chicago, I am used to clean streets and the area around Howard was filthy! I couldn't imagine UIC looking like that. Mayor Daley would have a fit! And UIC is RIGHT by the projects (Abla homes and the village) and it doesn't look anything like the area by Howard)! Hampton was clean and the campus was beautiful. I am so excited about going to my home by the sea!

welcome to HBCU and congrats on gettin into hampton.... sidenote: not all areas in the CHI is sparkly clean... :wink:

I didn't say chicago was clean but I said the areas around our universities are cleaner than those around howard. UIC (University of Illinois at CHicago) isn't dirty and it's a mile from the projects... Howard is cool but if I want to go to school in the hood, I'll stay on the westside of Chicago... I don't want to offend anyone.

u go to Whitney Young HS? Hmmm impressive... and yeah all tha places in Chicago aint clean but where my aunt lives (southside around tha corner from Chicago State) Is VERY CLEAN so yeah I see what u mean about not wantin to go to college in tha hood...

WY (Whitney Young) is not all it's cracked up to be. Yes it is a good school but, the atmosphere of the school isn't that great. This could be because I've been there since 7th grade though. Because it's a "smart school" people have to show they aren't just smart but also street and it's totally un-necessary. People in the school pose so much for nothing. They talk alot but fail to follow through. I guess it's just like any other High School. I'm more than ready to go to Hampton, though.
