Tennessee State University was crowned National Champion at the 18th Annual HBCU Academic Challenge. Also, Tennessee State University was ranked by US News as one of the best black universities. Personally, I recommend Tennessee State University, academically and socially. TSU is committed to educating its students as well as providing social events. Since I know that you are interested in Communications, I think you should consider TSU. Coincidently, my college roommate majored in communications at TSU. Currently, he is a script writer in Hollywood, CA. Also, Oprah Winfrey is a graduate of Tennessee State University and majored in communications. TSU is located in Nashville, TN, which is close to several major cities, such as Atlanta , Memphis, St. Louis, Indianapolis, and Chicago. Metropolitan Nashville is comprised of educated African Americans and several companies/headquarters (Nissan, HCA, Dell, Nortel, Caterpillar Financial, Saturn, Bellsouth, Genesco, etc...). Nashville is home to 3 HBCU’s (TSU, Fisk University, Meharry Medical College) and several other Universities/Colleges (Vanderbilt, Belmont, Lipscomb, Trevecca, Nashville School of Law, MTSU), which means you will encounter several young adults. If you have any questions, please let me know!

Im basically a well rounded student....3.2gpa maybe, okay SAT scores. I take the ACT next month. And Im an official SENIOR by da way. I'm aiming for a 19 on the ACT (that's the general score for any HBCU) so..... i'm just keeping my fingers across. Im from a little small town in Georgia so this would definetly be a change. So besides the basic admission process.... overall are they too selective?

I think with a 3.2 and 19 you will probably be admitted. However, if you want to receive a scholarship, you should aim for a 26 or better. I recommend applying as early as possible. If you wait until the last minutes, it’s a lot harder to get into college, since they only have a few spots left. Therefore, they can be much more selective. I hope you decide to attend Tennessee State University. If you have additional questions, please let me know. Good Luck future Tiger!
