HU STORY OF THE DAY!!!!!
Man whoever said graduating from an HBCU puts you behind in the world was TRIPPIN! I was at a meeting this morning for my political internship with all of these big wigs, politicians and high exec's and they introduce me as a student at Howard University. Everybody was like oh WOW!! How great whopdeewhoop blassaybla. Then the two most powerful people in the room, one a graduate of Princeton and the other of NC A&T, started talking. The lady from Princeton was like yea I remember my times in the "Black Palace of inequity". I was like what’s that, she was like, Meridian Hall . I was ummmmmmm....good times . Then the guy from NC A&T was like yea I had a lot of "friends" in Bethune. Then they both agreed that they loved the school and would highly recommend it. WOW!!!! That made my day.
**sigh** I love HU already
(Disclaimer----I know this was corny but I actually got really excited about it. So what **** me :? ) Free post me if you must
I'm happy that you are seeing some of the fruit of Howard's fame.... It's a good school, critically acclaimed, well respected, and nationally known... soon people will be coming up to you for advice or random favors just because you go to Howard.... it's a hard job, but someone has to go there  Just know that you'll have a mantle to carry once you graduate (yes, I said gradute.. I know you haven't even gotten there yet ) Think of Howard as an elite society for black folks (in particular)... If only the people at Howard would see how lucky they are to be a part of such a great legacy in history...
yeaaa i must admit i loving the reaction i get when i tell people i go to HU...it never ceases to get old   my friends hate it when we are together and someone says "oh and where do u go?" and she says ":: Umass" and they're like "oh...thas nice..and u?" "oh, i got to Howard University " and they're like "OOHH do u like it!! i have a cousin who went there...blah blah blah" 8)
Yep. HU's name carries alot of weight. I was especially surprised by how many white people have mad respect for Howard. Some ignorant peeps may give ya the idea that you're lowering your standards by going to an HBCU, or that it's not like the "real world" and not diverse. However, Howard contradicts those silly assumptions with a quickness. In Cali and at my highschool it was all about the big name schools...ivy leagues, UCLA, USC, UC Berkeley, and so on. But please believe, when i mention Howard, i get nothin but love.
What I love most about Howard is that is seems as though alomost everyone has a connection to/with Howard University.
Examples:
-I use to work at Pentagon City and the 2 of the managers including the hiring managers were Howard grads.
-At my current job, the lady who interviewed me is a Howard alumna
-At my internship in Atlanta, one of my co-workers was a Howard graduate
Everywhere I go, there are Howardites or people who are associated with Howard. Choosing Howard was one of the best choices I have ever made and I reep the benefits everyday.
