Dont try and do us now! Tuskegee more than likely wouldnt admit with a 1.9 GPA @ all. U could always try, but ur chances of getting in would be slim to none. If u did get it I'm not sure if u would make it through. Did u get a 1.9 because u didnt go to school or didnt put in the effort? People always hating on Tuskegee.......
oh it's all love, i was just kidding... tuskegee's a pretty good school; if i hadn't gotten into hampton, i would have thought of applying there...

He'll be a senior. Teachers say "not working to potential, missing assignments, etc.". He never truly learned to study because everything came easy, was an honor roll student until HS. Never flunked anything but not enough A's to bring up D's. Asians and Indians setting the curve and here we are!!
I agree. Take the first semester at a community college, then transfer. Or, apply for provisional admission to some of the other colleges listed. Many are fairly liberal when it comes to admitting students whose gpa might not reflect their full potential. He/she may be admitted to a bridge program or other provisional program.
Best option is to take the first semester or two at a local CC, while working with an academic advisor or mentor who can help him/her get decent grades and also provide a reference or recommendation. But still apply to the colleges of choice, and make sure to include a good personal statement that explains the circumstances and any mitigating factors (community service, home responsibilities etc)

I am a Talladega graduate and have been in admissions for almost 7 years now. Small colleges like Dega are the ones that do give those 1.9's a chance and you'd be surprised how well those students do in that type of environment. The fact is you don't hear about those schools because society, even as educated as we are, continues to base a college education on who has the best marching band or sports program and not to negate the necessity of that aspect in the college life experience, but there should be more emphasis on schools that offer "us" a chance to grow and to be nurtured. That's what Talladega offered me. Some of the students with whom I have advised and recruited had 1.9's and even as low as 1.6 and have graduated with 3.5 GPA's because they got the help they needed and the support from faculty and staff.
