Since I saw some interest, I thought that I would add a topic about the AUC. Is anyone considering going to one of the schools in the AUC? That being Morehouse 8) Spelman :wink: Clark Atlanta or the others?

AUC Gospel Choir FAQ:
1. Is the AUC Gospel Choir and New Life Inspirational Gospel Choir the same choir?
Yes, the official name of the choir is the New Life Inspirational Gospel Choir, but most people refer to us as the AUC Gospel Choir.
2. What colleges make up the AUC Gospel Choir?
In the 2004-2005 academic year, we had members from Morehouse College, Spelman College, Clark-Atlanta University, Georgia Tech, Georgia State University, Kennesaw State University, DeVry University, and Atlanta Metropolitan College. In past years we've also had members from Morris Brown College, the Interdenominational Theological Center, Emory University, Georgia Perimeter College, and the Luther Rice Seminary.
3. How many members does the AUC Gospel Choir have?
The choir membership for the past few years has generally been between 80-120 members.
4. Are there dues?
Yes, choir dues are $20 per semester.
5. When and where are rehearsals? When and where is the first rehearsal for the year?
Rehearsals are held on Tuesdays from 7:00 pm until 9:15 pm. The location varies, but is mostly in either Howe Hall on Spelman's campus or Sale Hall on Morehouse's campus. The date and location for the first rehearsal is being decided as we speak. Register for the choir and you'll get an email letting you know when the first rehearsal is.
6. Does the choir travel?
Yes, the choir travels out of state during spring break each year and also at various other times. The past spring break tours are as follows: Florida (2005), California (2004), Tennessee (2003), Texas (2002), Florida (2001), East Coast - New York, Conneticut, DC, Maryland (2000), Texas (1999), Illinois and Michigan (1998), and so on... You get the idea.
7. Is the choir affiliated with any particular church?
Ok, this is the one where are lot of people are misinformed. The New Life Inspirational Gospel Choir is not part of the New Life International Family Church. While the director or the choir, and the pastor of the church are the same person, Rev. Jeronn C. Williams, the two are not interlocked. Saying all that to say you don't have to be a member of the New Life International Family Church to be apart of the New Life Inspirational Gospel Choir. The choir has members from many different Atlanta churches including New Birth, World Changers, Ray of Hope, Total Grace, etc.
8. Do you have to audition to join? Do I have to be able to sing well?
No auditions, just come ready praise the Lord through song. It doesn't matter if you think you can't sing, we'll teach you.
9. When does the choir sing?
The choir ministers usually a few times per month at local churches and outside events. We also usually take part in the Homecoming Gospel Concert for Morehouse and Spelman (we've done Clark-Atlanta and Morris Brown in the past as well). Finally, the choir usually has a Fall and Spring Concert each year.
10. How do I join?
Well the first thing you need to do is register for the 2005-2006 AUC Gospel Choir online at our website, www.nligc.org. Click on the link that says Join Us, and then click on the link asking you to register. Fill out and submit the online form, and you're good to go. The registration form can also be reached by going to this link: www.nligc.org/joinf.html You'll be added to the choir database, and you will receive an email letting you know where and when the first rehearsal is gonna be.
11. Are rehearsals open to me even if I don't want to join the choir?
Sure, our rehearsals are open to the public. Please just show respect by turning off your cellphones, and keeping your outside conversation to a bare minimum.
