Who are some Negroes that inspire you today?
this brother is the mayor of Newark, NJ. when to yale, standford, and oxford.
i followed his story on PBS.
booker had to fight a nasty campaign for Newark mayor where he was labled as a trojan horse for **** and the republicans (although he's always been a liberal dem)he was called every name in the book:uncle tom, light bright, blue eyed devil.....and this was actually done by the incumbant mayor! the fact that this cat was light skinned with blue eyes actually was made an issue of by his opponant, mayor jackson. to me, this election was a battle between the black **** mentality vs. the opimistic "we've been through alot, so we can do just about damn anything" mentalitity that i and many others in this generation possess. one wants to turn everything that we've been through as a people to progress, and the other wants to soak in our own filth and play ****.
right now, i'd say that this cat is my black heroe. whenever i walk into an office for an interview, or to present something, i like to carry the same attitude that this cat pocesses.
"i'm black, and focused...two potent combos....i might as well have a magic wand in my hand."
although he lost the first election, due to the fact that the incumbant actually has brought a little progress to newark and that community's loyalty to him, he won on his next try.
i believe this brother has a good vision for newark, and i'm telling yall to remember the name.
corey booker, this cat's going places and should be an inspiration for this (milennials) entire generation.
I remember him... as part of his campaign, he rented a trailer and camped out in one of the worst neighborhoods in Newark for about two weeks, just to meet people and get ideas from the community about how to reduce crime. We need people who aren't afraid to do extraordinary things to make change happen.
