We have Howard, Hampton, A&T, FAMU, and a plethora of others...
The SWAC on the other hand has Southerm, Grambling J-State, ASU, and a few others....only good school yall got academically is Tuskeegee.
So...yall may produce a few athletes, but what successful and/or prestigious alum come outta the SWAC ??? And I DARE for somebody out the SWAC to say that they have the better students...
hehehe...how is that for Smack Talk... 8)
^^^ You have a point
Highlander...How you gonna go to A&T talking bout you want to get away from NC folks?
A&T has about 13000 people that go here from various states. The school is large enough that if I don't wanna see somebody, I'on have to see them. Hampton on the other hand is a little larger than my high school... :? But its not NC people I wanna get away from, just the idiots from my hometown. Too many of them were tryin to get into Hampton, even though most ended up going here.

Hampton did ALL THAT? LOL, well I don't think that is usual at all. You must have been very exceptional though, I will give you that.
Yes, I thought it was unusual too. I think one of the guidance counselors had something to do with it. I'on know how in the hell else they just found me out of all these other students. Granted, I was the top black student in my school (I graduated 23 out of close to 400 people). The rest of my transcript was bananas. My dad also had a scholarship set up at NCCU. But after I found out that Hampton was an HBCU, I just said "no" and let it go. I'd already applied to UNC and gotten in, and that's where I wanted to go. The only reason I went to A&T is because my parents underhandedly did some Sh*t. I'd gone out of the country for the summer and came back in July. When I got back they made me fill out an application for A&T and said that there was a chance of a full ride there. I filled it out figuring that it was waaaaaaaaay too late for me to get accepte, let alone get a full ride. Little did I know that they knew I was coming... my uncle (who has influence in the Engineering Dept) found out about a scholarship that hadn't been offered to anyone yet, and told them to hold it for me. At any rate, my application was taken by hand to the Chancellor's office and signed by him and the scholarship was mine on the same day. That is how I was duped into coming here... Had I known then what I know now, I prolly would have ended up at Hampton, or possibly at FAMU.
Hampton, a lil bigger than your HS?? I went to one of the top 5 largest High schools in NC, and it wasn't a third of HIU's size. How many students did your school have? Hampton (the largest private HBCU) is bigger than the overwhelming majority of HBCUs and larger than many small towns, so don't even try that one bruh- u know im the resourceful guru on here, LOL. I will admit A&T is much bigger, but where did you get 13,000 students from???? T's total enrollment is right at 10,000, you can check your own website on that one for 2004, as well as meacsports.com confirming.
In 2003, there were only 191 students at Hampton from NC out of 5800 students total, ranking # 7 out of all states, even Georgia beat NC out. But I wonder how many did NCA&T have from NC :?: You did man up and admit tho that most of your hometown peeps ended up goin to T.
Damn shame how you were tricked like that! You're not the first aggie I have heard get in that way through their parents. Must be that AGGIE PRIDE heh! not picking, thats good, Hamptonians need to start forcing our children to go.
Sounds like you were/are very bright, now I see why HIU was after you, but we still have the best and the brightest (including the alums)
I was going off of the reported numbers for this upcoming 2004-2005 year for my population statistics, which you'll see comes out to be 13000 and some change. Come on now... as much as I whip out the numbers on people, you really think I'm screw up on my own? Take into account how many students don't live on campus there and you'll probably end up with half that 5800 living on campus. A&T has roughly 6000-8500. If my high school had damn near 2000 people going there, we got a problem... :? I actually have to make an effort not to be seen by the people from my hometown as it is, which pretty hard, since I know most of the people here.... God foirbid I should be at HIU. Granted, like I said before, most of the black folks from my graduating class came to A&T anyway, but even the thought of people applying to that school was enough to makr me cringe... :? Its okay though... my folks are gonna pay for this when I go to Southern for grad school...
There is a 4000 enrollment difference in Hampton and A&T, which is great, but not huge. A&T has 10,000 students, why make it bigger? What are your population statistics coming from that you are talking about? My numbers came right off the A&T website for 2004 for the TOTAL enrollment (includes everybody on and off campus). Are you saying T is projected to have 3,000 more students this upcoming year than last???? Almost all HBCUs are increasing (including HIU) but not by 30% in one year. I guess by your calculations, Hampton really has 9,000.
And the enrollement of a school and the amount of those who are on campus residents are two totally different things.
To put your math into perspective, out of 191 total people from NC, it would likely be less than 100 on campus, if there are 8,000 students that stay on campus at A&T (which sounds abnormally high), that would be THOUSANDS of students from NC- on campus. Bigger campus but a whole lot more NC people ratio wise.
I was right, 8000 was abnormally high: http://qed.ncat.edu/ir&p/typhouse.htm
The numbers should be accurate (coming from their own website), therefore Hampton has more on campus residents than A&T (59% out of 5797=3420) compared to 2950.
Ok, im done with this, just had to prove my point  Stats wasnt my best subject, but I do know how to read numbers and back up what I say

Once again... I'm going off of projected numbers for THIS year... The numbers in the fact book are from LAST year. We have more housing options than we did last year. In addition, all of our housing options on campus aren't owned by North Carolina A&T (namely two of our biggest dorms). Therefore, the official report is missing two other dorms that are on campus; and this year three. Not to mention other acquisitions. You're also going off the highest paramenter that I set. Yes, 8000 is a VERY high number, but you have to keep in mind that A&T might have bitten off more than they can choose. I HAVE to be good at statistics, so I also know how to cover my ****, especially since I have an exam in it tomorrow... Considering we've got 4000 freshman moving on campus next week (unless my boss gave me the wrong numbers... :? ) we'd have a small problem if we couldn't house most of them...
I had to leave NC. My high school was the largest in the state having close to 3000 students and majority of my classmates went to A&T or WSSU. didn't want a high school reunion so i bounced. I like morgan and i'm proud to say i went there. Morgan is up there academically despite what people think. We have a lot besides the engineering program. We also have one of the top business schools and it is named for Black Enterprises' CEO Earl G. Graves (if u don't know him, look it up) who is also a distinguished alumni.
TADOW!!...HOW U LIKE ME NOW??
I'm mad we're having a statistical smack talk...
^^I know right
But quick question....how does A&T have dorms that are not owned and run by the University??
Hampton has "The Harbors" owned by the University's President which are largely predominantly HU student housing, but they are not considered dorms or on campus housing. Is that what you mean??
And 4000 freshmen!! Thats 40% of your student body. There I go wit my stats again....

For my HS, it was A&T and NCCU, but mainly Ag&Technical St, Central was too close, which is also the reason I didn't care to attend either, not that they aren't good schools, plus I wanted to LEAVE NC, and nothing like goin to school right on the water (except for that crucial wind/chill ).
But anyway....I MADE THE BEST DECISION for me.
I'm mad we're having a statistical smack talk...

Aggie Suites isn't owned by A&T. I don't remember if the newest addition to the dorms, Pride Hall, is owned by A&T either. Its owned by the A&T Foundation, therefore its not listed whenver you look at statistics because its a private firm. Riverwalk (and apt. complex owned by the foundation as well) is one of the acquisitions I was talking about. A&T will house students there, but its not listed as an official dorm because North Carolina A&T doesn't own it. But they're some of our largest dorms. And 4000 ain't 40% of 13000 people...
But arguing statistically is how you know we done moved on up...

A&T size has somewhat working against them...I know a few kats who are having MAJOR housing issues..Tell me why have a school when you cant guarantee housing after your freshman year :?:
