One of the fine things about building a rapport with a people is that it requires both parties to dwell in harmony despite they’re individual short comings. A necessary step towards the achievement of this goal is one of tolerance and sympathetic understanding. African Americans and Hispanics are two of the largest minorities in the United States, even when combined in numbers they are not the majority. Although the two minorities are not the majority with in America, the effect of the two races beginning to work together will allow much more to be achieved. Two heads are always better than one; it would be limitless in the amount of changes that could be made if the two largest groups of minorities in the United States of America began to work together. Many of the issues that African Americans face are comparable if not the same as Hispanic Americans. Therefore if the great minds and the influential members of both people begin to work together on many of the major issues that they both face the progression could be unimaginable. It is undeniable that politics is an important factor in the maintenance of the social environment. The world is organized from the most elementary to the most complex level politically. In the United States African Americans and Hispanics are severely under represented in politics. Since this is where a person speaks for the people it would help both races immensely if it was cooperation instead of competition for the positions of power. The voting power of the two would be inexorable, more diversity of people could be placed in the positions of power and amendments to the inequalities could begin to be made. There is a saying “it takes a village to raise a child” the community level is one of the most intimate levels of social organization. Several of the problems facing African Americans and Hispanics Americans are the same. Both communities hold the highest percent of drop out rates among students. Many of these students come from single parent homes with low social economic status. This contributes to higher crime rates in theses areas. If mutual aid among the two races was given to these problems then some of the issues could be decreased if not eliminated.African Americans and Hispanics come from cultures that are both rich. Rich in history and tradition, both ethnic groups’ ancestors were kings and queens, builders of society that were exponentially advanced and complex for their time. As a result they both today are a very colorful people, sometimes that colorfulness is a source of misunderstanding. Even though the two cultures are different, many of the habits of both are similar. In that, a great way to address some of the issues that arise due to our cultural differences is to try to understand each other. It is only then will the issues be done away with.Socialization is the best way to achieve understanding when dealing with people. If two people are not around one another then it is difficult for the two to begin to understand one another. If African Americans and Hispanic Americans begin to organize events for both of the ethnic groups then a level of understanding that is not superficial between the two can be achieved. Events on the communal and national level should be organized for both ethnic groups to attend then Blacks and Hispanics could socialize and begin to understand and partake in each others customs and traditions. Historically BlackColleges and Universities should continue to support the needs of African American and Afro-Hispanic students by providing gray area students with opportunity. As students we need professors that understand us and can provide the appropriate curriculum and instruction. Black Institututions provide a cultural sensitive and cultural rich learning environment. In addition they provide services to students which are unique to the African American and Hispanic ethnicity. Many traditional colleges focus on the dominant race and neglect the academic needs of minority students. Historically BlackColleges and Universities are the change agents for today’s society. The United States of America has changed much recently. But when it comes to the African American and the Hispanic American there is still much advancement left. The potential of the power held between these two ethnic groups is immeasurable but first they have to realize the power first. Once they become aware of the power that they hold individually then they can unite and develop into an even more prevailing force in America. Uniting through understanding and socialization will make this possibility a reality.
