In recent decades, negative mindsets in the black community concerning the education of African-American youth have changed dramatically. One common conception concerning the cause of the rift that exists among African-Americans is that the black community has somehow forgotten the importance of sharing education and wisdom as well as moral values with forthcoming generations. The concept of the generation gap that exists in Black America is the idea that the black community as a whole has FAILED in instilling in America’s forthcoming generations the history of the personal struggle of their ancestors and the importance and immeasurable value of an education. The lack of knowledge in itself is the motivation behind the delay in the African-American community’s progression as a unified and educated race of people, but current generations of African- American youth have not been properly instructed in the benefits of knowledge and understanding. Consequently, the generation gap that exists in the Black America is the result of apathy towards higher education developing as a growing trend among young African- Americans. Since education is an essential tool needed in bringing all generations of the Black Community together, the basis of bridging the generation gap in Black America is promoting education through every avenue possible. The African- American way of life has been stifled due to the rejection of the acquisition of wisdom and understanding, which in turn has broadened the generation gap among African- Americans. Over the years, the emphasis placed on vital issues such as the value of education, connecting to a rich heritage, and the promotion of the black community as a whole has seemingly lost all relevance in the minds of many African- Americans. In recent years, many young African- American students have even chosen to reject the idea of educating themselves due to a lack of motivation and the fear of rejection by their peers. However, this display of apathy towards the education system further stifles the progression of the Black Community. Since Black America’s youth hold the keys to the future of their people, connecting African- Americans through education is crucial in ensuring that future generations understand the value of an adequate education. This also encourages leadership among Black youth, which is vital in guaranteeing that the African-American community is adequately represented in generations to come. Older generations of African- Americans must also take the time to motivate their descendants through education by teaching young people thebenefits of wisdom. Truly wise African- American youth have been absent far too long, and therefore, many of these young people do not understand the power and impact of sound wisdom upon their lives. The acquisition of wisdom among young African- American students is important because wise teaching provides youth with the understanding necessary to make positive decisions concerning their intellectual development. Wisdom also acts as the medium through which the young African-American leaders gain the ability to instruct other young minds for the progression of African-American society. Promoting advancement is a critical step that African-American youth must be willing to take for themselves in order to thrive and prosper in the rapidly- changing society over which they are the beneficiaries. Continuing the Advancement of African-American culture requires that young African- Americans continue to make significant contributions to all areas of achievement possible, including humanities, athletics, fine arts, literature, or continuing to ensure that the basic civil rights of African- Americans are continuously acknowledged. Encouraging African- American youth to continuously strive for excellence acts as the catalyst that motivates African- American youth to rediscover the importance of an education and strong moral values. Since education is the most critical breakthrough toward progression and achievement, only through education will the youth of Black America prosper in the face of the academic apathy that is becoming increasingly evident among many African- American youth. Bridging the generation gap in Black America is an essential aspect in the progression of African- American youth. Therefore, promoting education among African- American youth provides them with vital qualifications for the future. Educating African- American youth secures a productive and significantly redefined community that will thrive on its contributions to the society in which the youth of Black America will soon hold in their hands. Bridging the generation gap in Black America through education will bring the generations of African-Americans together in a way that will allow them to prosper together towards the enrichment and advancement of Black America as a collective entity.
