African American and Hispanic Essay Posted on 05-28-2007

The struggle for equality has taken precedence in many countries throughout the world, however, most notably in the United States. This was the place where rights and ethnic diversity has always been a struggle for minorities. The Black and Hispanic movement or struggle has similarities and diverse differences, however; the common thread is justice and equality. As a Black American, I do not mean to belittle, disrespect, or justify the significance or insignificance that the Hispanic struggle or movement has, however; the Black experience in America cannot be compared to the movement of today. The basic rights of African-Americans were denied, robbed, stolen, beaten, and subjected to inhuman conditions for over two hundred years and it is a continuous struggle as of today. The African-American struggle has been difficult and now as of today the Hispanic effort is a prime example of what human rights are all about. African-Americans and Hispanics might have completely different backgrounds, but there is a great amount of common ground that the two ethnicities should address in order to help this world view the full spectrum of life. One way a common issue can unite these two different types of people is through current political and community issues. However, in order to participate together in the political arena in, we as two different ethnicities must unite and forge a bond to work together and address issues that impacts us all. This might include a wide range of issues, but I am certain that some ideas are shared by both groups of people. This recognition of working together would in return help establish a foundation uniting the two ethnicities. Also, if this foundation were to become solid and fortified, the two groups would certainly have a bigger “voice” in how society operates on a daily basis. Furthermore, in order to strengthen the bond of the minorities, we need to understand, embrace, and accept our similarities and differences. These differences might include the work environment, language, social need, but nonetheless the realization of recognizing the differences would in time create less problems in the future for the groups of people in working together. Therefore, in order to assist, promote, and facilitate each cause, we need to understand the importance of that cause and work with honesty and integrity. I would like to further elaborate my understanding by referencing the Bible which provides a clear and concise answer to this agenda. The body is composed of different parts but still one body. Each parts has its own unique purpose and function, however; all parts working together function as a whole, but parts working independently of its other components cannot function as intended. This principle applies to people as well. We all have unique qualities, gifts, and parts. Therefore, when we work as a whole as God intended, we would not have world crisis where social unrest is embedded in all aspects of society. Another way we as African-Americans and Hispanics can work together is through the use of post high school education. We live in a system that was devised and formulated on a doctrine that was established when we as African-Americans were still considered property and possessions. This establishment subjected many people to any and all conditions that seemed befitting by a sick **** society that used force and slavery to gain power and economic wealth. We as a global society must recognize the pitfalls that people of past generations made in order to not repeat them. Every human being is a valuable remnant of God and should therefore be embraced into life without any type of misjudgment. This idea is a necessity in relating the need for Black institutions to continually support African-American students and Hispanics as well. These two ethnicities deserve an education that is equal and fair to every individual. There is a responsibility for all African-Americans and Hispanics to recognize the need for educating young people on the dynamic environment in this world. This goal can be easily attained by once again cooperating with one another for a basic common good. Both ethnicities have something valuable to offer throughout the post high school educational system, and if we unite then that effort can be just that more easily accomplished.
