African Americans and Hispanics in the U.S. should work together as minorities to address political, cultural, communication, and community issues because as united we can stand, but divided we will always fall. Being a minority our problems are similar, so we should work together as one not as a race to solve issues. The same issue, problems, and concerns are unilateral and do not discriminate. Furthermore, you can do more working together than you can by yourself. Generally what applies to one nationality applies to another. I feel that united our voices will be heard and our victories will benefit all. The majority voice is what makes the difference and creates the change. A large audience will be reached on all of the issues if combined forces, strengths, and work is demonstrated, thus bringing empowerment to not one but two great ethnic minorities. There are many things that can be done to strengthen the relationship between the African Americans and Hispanic communities living within the United States. It should first begin right now in every home with every mother, father, and child with a historical background of your own ethnicity. It should filter through churches, schools, and other community outlets. There should be a way to breakdown the language barrier, creating a one-language society so you can get a better understanding and learn each others cultures. Get-togethers and functions with both groups should be held using the aforementioned to accomplish this. There should be sounding boards used to openly discuss issues, misunderstandings, miscommunications, and disagreements. The airways should be used to carry forth the message of unity and new beginnings between these two cultures. Working together is the key thing. By working together you can appropriately address issues and also create a friendlier environment. Historically Black Colleges and Universities should continue to support the needs of African American students and possibly the needs of the growing Hispanic population in the U.S. because historically is a word that means the past and the future. If we are to survive as a community and include those that have been oppressed as the blacks we have to speak, teach, and educate our children as only we know how to do. It is very evident that there are problems still exist with both the Black and Hispanic people such as age old problems. Although we have advanced and made great strides in accomplishing equality, there still is a gape that exists. Our forefathers have both worked hard to bring about change. Change has to begin with our generation and have a positive impact on our future nation of leaders. HBCU has already contributed so much through making this website and by giving black students such as myself the opportunity to express ourselves. Better yet HBCU has given those that are in financial need the chance to win scholarships and awards. The HBCU website has brought together black communities and minorities in general. By creating a new environment of working and learning together, we are growing up a nation of adults who can live together, improve upon political, cultural, and communication issues that will pass on the torch to their children.
