I believe that the only way that we will be able to gain full recognition of our efforts, we must close the gap between African Americans and Hispanics and learn to work together, not as minorities but as an impressive, effective group. By invoking this concept, we should be more motivated to use our cultural differences as strengths that will ultimately enable us to come together and build one community. Even though we have matured in this country to a certain degree, by operating as separate, smaller groups we have been hindered our people from making the kind of necessary progress that will leave a lasting impact into many different categories of Americans, regardless of how low one’s poverty level is or how high one’s income is. The increasingly sad fact remains that, we as Americans, still do not feel welcome in many areas in the United States, due to the serious amount of discrimination minorities receive as a whole. African Americans and Hispanics, in particular, have frequently lived in fear for our lives because of the fact that we are different, especially in metropolitan and urban areas. It is time to turn the fear into power! There is strength in numbers and all the more reason we should identify what is really sabotaging our success…division! While the majority of our nation is blinded by negativity, and fails to see the problem that we as minorities have to face regarding our social and economic conditions, we have the ability to turn the negative into a positive by combining our talents and voice in the spirit unity.Statistics have shown that throughout our nation, the majority of Americans have developed the mentality to treat minorities unequally. I believe that by education ourselves in fields where mass media we could confront, bring to the forefront and conquer some of the issues that minorities deal with such as, unemployment, housing, and apprehension that we won’t gain full acceptance in a nation that is evidently free. Having a limited politics voice has also been a daily issue for African Americans and Hispanics alike. In the past, we were vaulted from the doors of politics, until around the 80’s and 90s, however, after African Americans began to plant their feet, take a stand, and display that we have the stamina and the ability to run for office, we have shown the nation that African Americans and Hispanics have the political experience needed and are the missing leadership to help create a better nation a whole. The need to adjust the problems associated with our current political issues can no longer be neglected and must be dealt with in a much stronger manner and with much stronger leadership. This is paramount or we will continue to drift away from the importance of our policy and lawmakers and what this will mean to future generations. African American advancement, empowerment and justice is completely overdue and there must come a day when African Americans and Hispanics come together to fight against public issues that affect politics, social, economics, cultural and community concerns of not only African Americans and Hispanics but as a nation whole we will rise up and accomplish justice. For African Americans and Hispanics to join together it would be encouraging because as smaller segments, each minority has been regarded as seemingly unimportant or insignificant, however, the overpowering reply is to unite and support one another indiscriminately. The strength for the community is based on the effort we as individuals give the community. HBCUs can be instrumental to young people by offering continual guidance is needed for the provision of education to African Americans and Hispanic student, partially for those immersed in problematic and targeted environmental areas. Many times individuals of different races need support due in part to our cultural nature and African American colleges instinctively provide this support. We can strengthen our effectiveness by simply looking beyond race and embracing the Hispanic communities. The modern day world we live in today can be one of a kind, by exploring our diversity, recognizing it’s value and by combining resources to show there is strength in numbers. African Americans and Hispanics shouldn’t do it alone because our societies issues although may seem racial are global problems. Historically Black Colleges should support the needs of African Americans and Hispanics, since they can more closely relate to these youth in a positive manner and the best potential for mentoring; these are all people that are all seeking for another chance in life. Historically Black College is here to provide the opportunity to better them in life. By attending a Historically Black College, I have found that no matter what conditions affecting a young adult, college can help repair many of life’s deficiencies.
