Diversity in African American and Hispanic races makes the U.S. interesting, beautiful, and different. For example, if a picture was all white it would be boring, if brighter colors were added (such as red, green, brown, or black) the picture would be colorful and interesting. The unity between all brothers of God, but specifically the African American and Hispanic race, is special in that they uniformity work together and call themselves “the Minority”. African American and Hispanics in the U.S. should work together as minorities to address political, cultural, communication, and community issues. Politically the two races depend on the governments support in Medicaid and Section 8 (housing). The public health news supports the statement by stating that 38% of African Americans and Hispanics experience difficulty paying for medical **** because of the high drug prices. Due to stresses on family budget, many people put the health of their families at risk when they cannot afford their ****. With the section 8 housing system the mbda.gov website states that the legislation refers to the like hood that African Americans and Hispanics are socially disadvantaged therefore they are the ones that can qualify for government help. Culturally, both races enjoy themselves through parties and flavorful food. Both races usually host family gatherings about every other weekend. These parties include talking over dinner, singing, and dancing. Both races are known for their exceptional foods like the fried chicken, okra, and peach pie which African Americans are stereotyped to cook. Hispanics are also stereotyped to make spicy food. Both races have a variety of fun, family unity, and tasteful foods. All races obtain information through the TV, internet, radio, or mail but what binds the two races is the teen music and sports. Musically the two races are beginning to combine such as the famous African American artist Beyoncé and the famous Hispanic singer Shakira in the song “Beautiful Liar”. Sports wise both races have been playing together in basketball and baseball. In the community both races commonly live in the same neighborhoods. One could say that both races are in the “same boat” because they have common problems, activities, and interests that unit them as the minority. There are three original strategies that need to be addressed in order to unite the two races. First, work done today is for a better tomorrow therefore the future is important. A program called united should be initiated in all middle schools and high schools in the U.S. which plans activities for both races to mingle such as school dances and mandatory retreats. These activities will allow the student to hopefully become friends. Secondly, communication is essential in any successful organization. Therefore, African Americans and Hispanic communities could start up meetings once every month to discuss important topics or issues. For example, the welcoming of new members, schedule volunteer work for their communities, fundraisers, and other things to improve the images of both races. Thirdly, some adult parties could be planned where adults can meet new people and be able to network with their people. When most people hear party they think of fun so this will also attract people by offering music and food. The three strategies will not happen over night, and may take many years. Meetings can be held in someone’s backyard, and then after enough members join, a building can be bought and the organization will begin. By embarking on the three strategies above the African American and Hispanic relationship will be stronger. It would be an advantage of the historically black college and universities to continue to provide financial assistance the African Americans and Hispanic students in the U.S. It would be helpful if the U.S. financially assisted and provided students who apply for various scholarships. The winners will be chosen by the following the criteria’s; by financial need, excellent grades, and involvement in their school. With out scholarship opportunities minority students that strive to improve their lives and to improve their children’s lives will not have that opportunity. The lack of funds will hinder students because of the high cost colleges or universities. With scholarship opportunity determined individuals have a better chance in fulfilling their dreams to improve themselves. The two races will have about the same opportunity as other races to learn at a college/university, hence, enabling equality in diverse ideas and comments at a school setting. By investing in students, students will be better prepared and will be able to make more responsible choices.
