Chances for Spelman Posted on 07-07-2008

ACT- 26 (taking it again in hopes of raising it to a 28-30) SAT- Haven't take it yet. GPA- LOW (3.0) Classes- Eight Adavanced Placement classes under my belt, by the end of my senior year. Passed all with no less than a C. 3 Dual Enrollment classes Extracurricular Activity- Mock **** for two year, Model United Nations, Youth Leg., Volunteer work at the local hospital, Not to mention all of the extra work I do to help my community (cleaning parks, volunteering at a summer camp for the youth) A plethora things I do at my church with the YPD (Young People Department). . . Essay writing skills are through the roof according to every english and history teacher I have ever had, and it improves more and more and the years roll by. -sighhhhhhhhh- I'm so nervous, because Spelman is my DREAM COLLEGE. It would absolutely crush me if I weren't accepted. I really need some input on things Spelman looks for in a young black woman. I know it is highly competitive to get into Spelman. I can't wait til see what the future holds for me.

she giggled? wowwwwww and what did she say to you after that? my gpa isn't all that gravy either, but there is only a handful (maybe 3 or 4) who can honestly say they took more challenging classes than me. . . at one point my schedule looked like this: 7:00 a.m.- AP Biology, 1st block-Anatomy and Physiology Honors, 2nd block AP English Lit, 3rd block European History AP, 4th- office worker. . . I mean, my gpa will probably only be a 3.0, but the classes I took, my community service, extracurricular activity, and drive and determination, must be taken into serious consideration. . . giggle at me all she wants, lol... plus, I think I'm setting up an interview with them, so they can know why I did so poorly my freshman year (two very close deaths, one being sibling). . . laugh all they want, but Ima make them not want to deny me. . .
huh i know that's right same thing my mama and cousin[who is a spelmanite]tells me make them not want to deny you or put your applications down, but sorry bout the the deaths , i had a close friend die google her shannon veal known her since 6th grade unitl her death her story is touching, and also have a mother with cancer so spelman should understand circumstances like ours and know that we are doing our best to achieve our goal

MOTIVATIONNNNNNNNNNN , use it all as motivation! That's why I am sooo for interviews to get into a particualr school , becasue these people only have a transcript , a stupid standardized **** , and an essay on a particular topic , and they are suppose to choose from that. NOOOOOOO , I need an interview! THEY NEED to know why my situation is the way it is! I was feeling a little down last week , because my bestfriend sent her Spelman application off and here I am PROCRASTINATING and waiting. Heck , I'm the one that motivated her to apply to Spelman! Now I gotta go with regular decision , and go against my toughest competition! Man , I just wish everybody the best of luck with this whole process, and WHEN WE ALL GET ACCEPTED TO SPELMAN COLLEGE we shall bring these topics back up and look at how extra worried we were! And we should also plan to meet one another at an HBCUCONNECT spoton campus , lol.

AMEN gurl!haha.Well about the essay, hopefully they can get a better picture of you through your words and not just by looking at transcripts. I really do hope we all get accepted and then we'll all have a get together. But keep the faith sistas. If you set your mind to anything, it could happen.I know NOBODY was thinkin our next prez would be black..so just keep the faith
