Just curious because i've been hearing different things. First I heard that grades are the most important. Then I heard that all the other parts of the application(essay, test scores, extra currics) will balance things out.My math grades are not so hot. Anybodys input would be appreciated

I think its a balance. So if you don't have the best grades you should write an excellent essay, have good test scores, good rec. letters, etc.

Grades and test scores are most important. Good essays, recommendations and extra curricular activities are good to have but not nearly as much of a necessity as your GPA and standardized tests.
