Why Must We Call Our Handsome Black Men... Posted on 06-30-2004

Why must we call our handsome Black men, ****? I don't see the point to it. They are men, guys, boys but not n!ggas, nuccas, niccas, etc. So why do I continue to see the ladies of HBCU's calling the males that label?

the originality behind **** comes from Egypt and it meant Prince or something like that but then the white people came and twisted it all up but i don't know why we continue to knock down our own people it's just ridiculous
Where did u find this info? Because i always believed that the Spainish started it (first to arrive in africa to "claim" us) and called us first Negro defined as black in spanish. The Europeans took it and changed the pronounciation (spelled that wrong) which was later transformed to an even countrier term by (country slang speaking plantation owners) into ****. Which we then changed (from bitter derogatory and sugarcoated it with bullshyt )to seem as something sweet and overcoming.

It actually did start with the spanish, but it was "nigre" as in the Niger River which back then was the Nigre River, but when they took us back it was assumed that the Spanish word "negro" was being mispronounced, which then evolved into negro, then ****. Richard Pryor once said that while we were in Africa, there were so many wars between tribes and black people fighting other blacks, but when they took all of our kings and queens and warriors, we were united into 1 tribe, the ****.

I agree that we should not use the N word when talking about our black men. People today use it however they feel not knowing that we degrade ourselves unconsciously. Yes, the root of the word came from another man's ignorance. I think we should expand our vocabulary and express ourselves with other words. As women we are also degraded by the use of words like hoe and ****. But until we demand more respect we will continue to degrade each other.

the other night when i was at work, this girl that i work with came in and she was like "wassup ****" and i wasn't really offended or anything like that, but i was just shocked because we don't really chill like that. Me and my friends say it to each other all the time, but it was just diff when she said it. i dunno, it just made me think more about the word and why hearing her say it made me feel the way it did :?: :?:
