i was recently on campus and the incoming freshmens where disrespecting the greek benchs (sitting on top of them, laying on them, feet on them) a couple of akas went to the freshmen and told them if your going to sit on the bench sit like u have good sense. the freshmens rolled their eyes and said a smart comment and the akas they didnt respond back they just walked away. so the main question is how do yall feel about people like that sitting on your bench and would you have said something? what would u have done?
On our campus... benches and things are on the plot. NOW.... of course there is "plot etiquette" that non-greeks need to understand. That is our area and it is to be respected. Side walks are fair game cuz we don't want yall in the street bout to get run over... but when u hit grass and beyond into Blue and White territory u messin up.
U are only allowed on IF invited by one of my sorors or frats. Then once on the plot you are ok to sit, stand, or lean if u want. BUT... u will not disrepect the shields. There will be no walking aross the shield simply because you have not been blessed with these letters. All in all we are nice about people and our plot, when we have folks that CLEARLY know nothing about the greeks we kindly ask them to be mindful of where they step and any RUDE folks are handled.
At Hampton ....its kinda easy to slip up because we don't have plots...instead they have other markers...like a tree...some steps...etc. During orientation your taught where you can chill in the yard area. Um...I don't think they do the invite thing. Usually if your friend is greek and you are none greek...they either come off the spot/plot...or stand at the edge and talk to you.
I remember...freshman year at the Que probate...this lady's husband was a Que and she was wheeling the stroller over to take the baby to him. One of the younger members stopped her...and she was like EXCUSE ME I AM HIS WIFE! i thought that was kinda funny. After she handed him the baby she did step off the grass though.
Bench warming is big stuff. . .the white people on our campus often do it, and I usually explain to them that they shouldn't sit there. You gotta watch that stuff, sometimes it'll get you thrashed.
NO ONE, I mean, NO ONE sits on the plot. We are the ONLY Greeks that sit on the Psi plot. No one is really stupid enough to disrespect out plot in front of us. The only time that we aren't on it is early in the morning. The rest of the time, you'll see 1 or 2 of us chillin' passing the time. STAY OFF OUR PLOT DAMMIT!!! j/k (sorta)
What were dem AAA's talkin bout!!
here's how the situation probably happened....
AAAs: Excuse me, if your going to sit on the bench sit like u have good sense.FRESHMEN: *scratching heads*AAAs: Can you please sit with good manners on our benches that we've shed blood sweat & tears for. FRESHMEN: Umm, can't you sit somewhere else? we're kind of busy here.*eating bojangles and smoking a black*AAAs: Well okay, but what time do you think you'll be finished, so we'll know when to come back? FRESHMEN: Why don't you write a letter to the Dean of Students and request a time to sit on your benches. You girls look like yawl do alot of writing anyways. AAAs: *walks away kicking dirt*
This is a good question. I have always wondered about it. I have never sat on the Greeks benches and whatnot cause I dont wanna seem like I am disrespecting them...but I have seen non greeks sit on the benches wit no problems. :shrugs:
WOW..and that's all the AKA's said :?: ( I don't really believe that) I mean...had that been on my campus security would have been called to the scene. There's just somethings that you don't do and we explain that to all incoming students EVERY year so nobody gets punched in the mouth by accident...lol
I can say on my campus we do get much respect and I never seen anyone standing on any of the Greeks plots...
