Is anyone sick of BET? First it was about us, but then we sold out to those other. So the representation of our Black women is less is more and the art of Hoism (pronounced as hoe with ism on the end) is encouraged. Even the simplest videos got "video hoes" n them. For instance Happy People. What was the point of having **** women around the top of the room (was it decoration?). Or even Mase had them in his videos, they were clothed but they were still that barbie doll type that is expected by video hoes. Lastly Tip Drill...nuff said on that one
The sad thing about BET is that some of the highest executives are WOMEN. So when I turn to Uncut, when I turn to 106, when I turn to BET countdown, I'm reminded that its women that are making these decisions to air this ****on T.V. When women start caring more about how much MORE money they can make, instead of the message this crap is sending out to their daughters...then we have a serious problem on our hands.
It was cancelled because people stopped watching it. The one program on BET that was positive and had a message for young back people end up going off the air. Go figure.
I admit, I thought Teen Summit was kinda boring, but the topics were actually meaningful and worth discussing. I watched it sometimes. The **** topic was repititive, but I guess they were they were trying to get it through minds of some hard-headed Black folks. (Dang i'm harsh) There was a reason why BET's most significant shows were cancelled: http://www.kccall.com/news/2002/1213/Entertainment.html
About the videos, I think they're nothing but HOT GHETTO TRASH!!! It really doesn't make any sense for women to be exposed the way they are. Back in the day, they were more covered up, but now it's all about showing off the ****! This is the reason why I quit watching BET with the exception of Midnight Love. I did watch NYLA, but BET cancelled it due to low ratings. (probably)
BET is seriously making us look bad. I'm in aa summer program at Prairie View where there are lot of non blacks and they are constantly asking me "why do y'all dance like that?" They were referring to the ludacris, lil john, usher video "yeah" where they say "bend over to the floor and touch ya toes" and the females bend over in these itty bitty dresses with they booties hangin' out the end and they start vibratin'. I try to get them to understand that not all black females act like that. You have to understand that they're Mexicans who have been in the US for like two years and they're perception of "us" us what they see on the tv. Then to make it worse there's a ghetto group of girls who spend their free time trying to learn these dances. Some of these people are coming to college to study dance so they can be video hoes! It just make me shake my head
[ but i really dont think that the video thing is that big of a deal.
Typical male response...
That's some str8 BULL! Do u realize what u just said?! U don't think its a big deal?! We are being demeaned by our own ppl and brushing it off like its nothing. R u that ignorant? Is ur blindfold that thick around ur eyes that it makes u completely miss the point? Do u realize that u are the only male perspective on this post and u represent like this? U r just as bad as the artist  Where have all our strong men gone? the ones that used to defend us and be proud of us? are they becoming just as extinct as our true women?

look at missy elliott u don't see her with hoes in her videos..
True missy is positive, some of the time. But um does anybody remember pass that dutch? was it or was it not females in the video with the dark meat of their butts out of the tiny leather shorts they were wearing?
