Now there are a lot of HBCU's in different states. But what state has the best HBCU's overall.
North Carolina has my vote:
St. Aug
North Carolina Central
Winston Salem
Fayettville
Livingstone
Elizabeth City
A & T
Bennett
Shaw
Johnson C Smith
People only really know about A&T and Johnson C Smith (only cuz of battle of bands).
Your school profile depends on the region in which you live. JC Smith, NCCU, NC A&T, WSSU, and Shaw are WELL-KNOWN throughout the mid-east and north (hell we get enough students from DC, New Jersey and New York). Sheesh many students know about A & T on the west coast.
We all know why you all think your state is best, give us some reasons you think yours is the best HBCU state. The NC folk have stated their case (Aggie-Eagle, CIAA Tournament, History); the only thing you guys have talked about is academics, where if you really want to talk about quality: According to US News, we are pretty much even. Morehouse is a Tier 3 Liberal Arts College, while A & T and NCCU are tier 3 Masters Granting Colleges. Both JCSU and Shorter are Tier 1 Comprehensive Colleges, while both Livingstone and Morris Brown are Tier 4.
I hate I had to take it to statistical smack, but sheesh, can yall give us something other than:
I agree they both are excellent and reputable schools, but how are those 2 schools alone "better" than all 11 NC schools? Just askin...
and I know people on this site don't even get into the black HBCU elite is better thing. Many make it out to be almost a bad thing or either non-existent.
Thanks, cuz believe me those students at Duke, UNC, Wake Forest, Georgia Southern, Georgia Tech, Emory, and UGA, all think our schools are inferior. . .
Half of those student in the schools you listed went to school in the AUC. And just to remind the NC Kats there are ten HBCU's in GA not including Carver College which makes eleven since we countin n all
giving daps*
Morehouse
Spelman
CAU
Albany State
Paine
Fort Valley State
Interdenominational Theological Center
Morris Brown
Savannah State University
Shorter College
and i didnt know this but Morehouse School of Medicine is considered a seperate HBCU by law go figure since it seperated from Morehouse in 1981
not counting Carver---so now ummm that makes 12
even though I'm reppin' Tennessee(Tennessee State University, Lane, Fisk, Lemoyne Owen, Meharry Medical) I have to agree with GA on this one, not only do they have two of the best HBCU's(Spelman and Morehouse) but they have other HBCU's that are well known and that offer quality education.
I also have to go with Louisiana because they have Xavier, Dillard, Southern A&M, and Grambling.

QUALITY OVER QUANTITY.
What I meant was that a lot of people only know of Johnson C Smith cuz of Battle of the Bands, not A&T.
I also stated that I think Louisiana should be considered a top state
You aren't serius(laughing) the CIAA is only the biggest tourney behind the ACC...or is the the **** anywayz we make more money and attract more folks and celebs that all the tournaments besides the ones mentioned above...look it up.

just cuz yall got 11 hbcu's doesn't mean that yall the best state. only bout 2 of those colleges are actually known. And I'm pretty sure that our HBCU all star basketball game is much better than yall CIAA tournament.
Ima have to go wit GA on this one. We are talkin bout tha best State for HBCUs, as in schools not tournaments. GA has tha best HBCUs (Spelman, Moorehouse). I mean ****even ppl in Canada kno bout those HBCUs how many of yall can say tha same thing bout urs? NC has HBCU every 70 miles well GA has 4 HBCUs within 15 min walkin distance, beat that.
Yes, North Carolina has the quality to back up the quantity.
-North Carolina A&T is world reknowned for its engineering program. There aren't but so many schools to begin with that can boast producing an astronaut, let alone an HBCU (not to mention terrorists that have changed the world as well... :? ). Our engineering program is more rigorous than most white schools. In my discipline (Industrial and Systems Engineering) the students at N.C.State, another top engineering school in the world, don't have to take half of hard **** courses that we've gotta take (Thermodynamics, Statics, Strength or Materials, etc.). When it comes down to it, if you ask anyone who is in the know, when you think of HBCUs and engineering, you think North Carolina A&T State University. Debate it if you wish, we have a legacy of producing the best.
-North Carolina Central University is reported as the best Law School for women in general, not just black women. It also has the excellent Poli-Sci program to boot. How many of you have had MSNBC broadcast live from your campus? In addition, NCCU has a top of the line nursing program. Being that it in close proximity to Duke University Hospital and UNC Chapel Hill University Hospital, her nurses not only get training, but get jobs at two of the best hospitals in the world.
-Johnson C. Smith and Winston Salem State University also have some of the best Business and Education programs in the nation (as well as NCCU) not only in academics, but in placement. (I can't say too much else about them because I don't know much else and I don't feel like doing the research)
Not to mention the CIAA tourney... 8)
it doesnt settle nothing.....damn i dont have time to research since I dont have my lappy yet and gotta study for a couple of hours....but damnit when i do have time and if this topic is still up then damnit i will prove GA is the better state....damn you all and your computers *hhmph*
Do we have to bring up the prestige factor... Morehouse alone has produced the likes of Mays, King, and Maynard Jackson.... Then you have Spellman, then Clark Atlanta U....
