...when people mess up your name?? Especially when u KNOW ya name ain't THAT hard to pronounce... people mess up all kindz of namez in all kindz of wayz... What are some ways u've heard your name mispronounced? ok, my name is Jameya...pronounced "juh-MEE-yuh" but i've heard people pronounce it...."juh-MAY-yuh"..."juh-MY-yuh"....nah, but what has taken the cake..."juh-MILL-uh"...and "juh-MILL-YUH"...there isn't ONE DAMN "L" in my name, so y do some folkz insist 2 put @ least one of them jointz in it?!?!?! "juh-mee-yuh" seemz like such the obvious way of pronouncin' it - i just don't understand.... people have gotten a LOT better about pronouncin' it since i've been in college - students AND professors...but elementary school up 2 high school...GOODness, i heard some of EVERYthing... i don't know if it'z 'cuz i've been thru name mispronunciation so much in my life and therefore try 2 make an effort 2 get people's names right...but most of the time, i spell and pronounce people's names correctly the 1st time...they're alwayz like ...but really, i think some people just think too hard about it, which iz what lead 'em 2 error

my name is Bryttani, but people get it wrong so frequently that i don't care anymore. is it that hard to pronounce my name just because the "i" and the "y" are switched?

I have officially given up on people being able to pronounce my name. My name is Alysia; the "y" has a short "i" sound and the "sia" sounds like "sha." I've been called: Alicia-like Alicia Keys Felicia Allison Ashlee Alice Alyse I can say my name 10 times, literally, and people still call me Alicia. I've realized that people are going to call you what they want to call you, so I've offically given up on people pronouncing my name right. My teacher makes us wear name tags  :x in class; yeah, you're really going to be able to pronounce my name.

Jenna isn't hard to say but I get Gina and Jenny all the time. I doesn't bother me I just politely correct them. Some of you must admit- you got some ghetoo names and spellings- so it's not entirely their fault

Um, peeps pretty much get my name right . I mean come on, it's a freakin country. If u can't look at Kenya and pronounce it right, imma need u to take a geography class or sumthin. Only slip ups i get is when peeps just don't remember my name. I usually get "Kendra" from folks like that. KENYA is so much prettier, don't u agree? Funniest thing was when a dude asked me the other day. "Sooo...does your name begin with a K?". WTH??? :? . What, u thought it was spelled "Quenya" or sumthin? Come on, i know black parents like to be extra complicated when it comes to names, but my momma wasn't smokin crack rocks homie.
