Is it hard to get in Howard? Posted on 11-18-2004

I was wondering if it was hard to get in howard university b/c that is my 1st choice for college. The thing is I'm not the most perfect student. So far I've stayed at a 2.5 g.p.a in high school and I was never involved in that many extracurricular activities. Plus my grades are really bad and I still haven't taken the ACT (not taking SAT). I can apply myself hard it's just my procrastination and laziness. So what do ya'll think and was it hard for y'all?

I think Howard is kinda funny with accepting students. I'm in Brooklyn, NY and here we don't know our averages on a 4.0 scale. My friend had a mid-eighty average and a 890 SAT score, wrote a BANGIN' essay, and didn't get in, but my other friend had a 78 average and a 930 SAT and got in......I don't know man, it's weird. But it might have to do with majors 'cause the one who didn't get in had applied as a pol. sci. major while the one that got in applied as undecided........ :???: I really don't know their process of selecting students.

I was accepted but do not attend HUs nursing program( I refuse to take out a 20,000 dollar loan for one year) :x but I applied with I think a 3.4+ GPA, 1000(combined) SAT, I worked all my years in HS so I didn't have any extracurricular activites, and I kinda through my essay together the day before I sent my application off lol, but I'm a pretty good writer if I can say so myself. I had a friend who didn't get in, and I think he had about a 2.5 maybe a little lower, so its hard to say who can and won't get in. I do know that I was afraid that I wouldn't be accepted.

Yea, Howard is expensive as hell where I go tuition is half of what HU would be and half of that the government pays for cause I'm poor lol. I don't know much about HU's nursing program but just be ready mentally to put in some hard work, it's not a game, but HUs program is probably easier in a sense beacuse the school I'm at you had to apply to the nursing program after a year and its damn near impossible to get into that program. But you can do just remember just keep your goals in focus!

Um...ok. I'm a sophmore in high school and I'm most definitely not the perfect student. My freshman year my GPA was a .68 ...(Yeah, please don't clown...I already feel bad enough about it) with no extra curricular activities, and no AP classes. I was too busy having fun, that I didn't think about what the results would be and how I would have to pay for it later. But this year I'm really trying hard ... My GPA is a 3.1 and I'm in Choir. My first choice of college is Howard University, but I'm scared I've already ruined my chances.. Fortunately, I do VERY well on standardized testing. (Perfect scores on the ITBS's and ITED's in almost every section) So do you guys think I'll get in of I get a perfect score on the ACT/SAT, join a few more clubs, try to get my GPA up to a 3.5 for the rest of this year and the rest of my High School career? I want to major in Psychology and minor French. Please reply to this I need answers ASAP. I need to know if I have a chance so I can start bustin' my ass in school now. Or if I don't have a chance so I can just say "F*** it". The best way to reach me is through email. SincerelyKerri@yahoo.com ...I'm new to this site, by the way...!! Hi everybody!
