ACADEMICALLY ELITE HBCU??? Posted on 03-09-2004
In Rod We Trust

I was just wondering which HBCUs are known to have the highest academic standards and best reputation for excellence? I did a little research on it before, but the only schools I can still remember are... Howard Morehouse Clark Spelman FAMU Hampton Dillard Stillman Xavier Tuskegee I know there were at least one or two more on my original list, but can't remember what they were. Any glaring omissions? Also, what academic area are these schools best known for? For example, I know FAMU has an excellent reputation for business. Finally, what are the top 2 or 3 HBCUs to attend for an education degree? I know that's a lot of info to ask for, but I have 3 or 4 friends considering attending HBCUs that are asking me for advice, and I don't know enough to tell them. Thanks in advance for any help.

When was it ranked in the Top 50, this year, the year before, etc etc. I'm mad you really thought you shut me down like I didnt have any proof or something. You betta ask somebody man, you wont win an argument with Slim like that. Either click the link or just take my word for the fact that HU is ranked 28 on the graduate level. What's your ranking... whoops. I forgot you dont have a graduate program, thus... no ranking ****, iunno how u gonna consider your school the Harvard of anything and you dont have that at least. Finally, since you seem to be harping on alumni, and are too lazy to scroll to page 3 where some people named a few, lemme repeat those for you.

I guess other than everyone, you want to know about Booker T. Washington, Spencer Christian, Rick Mahorn, Wanda Sykes, Vanessa Bell Calloway, the editor of Vibe Magazine, and COUNTLESS other prominent African Americans that serve as lawyers, judges, accountants, etc. all over the nation.
I can also name some specifics, such as Major General Wallace Arnold, Commander of the US Army ROTC, George R. Lewis, the treasurer and VP of Phillip Morris, Julia Cooper Mack, first black woman admitted to the Washington Bar and the Senior Judge on the DC Court of Appeals, John H. Sengstacke, Owner of the Chicago Defender and the National Newspaper Publishers Association. Now, what were you saying? By the way, it helps when you list rankings to list the context of those rankings. Morehouse was ranked #1 for Black students, while on some different lists however Morehouse could very well be ranked differently. Again, have a good day

Way to go Slim. Good you consider yourself a winner. So your school is better than mine because it's a university? Don't play yourself ****. We're a college because we don't need university status to be as prominent and as prestigious as we are. Ivy league recruiters recruit harder here, at Spelman, and at Howard harder than they ever have or ever will at Hampton. If your school is top notch why have you never ranked higher than us in the Honda Campus All-Star Challenge? Why does Harvard enroll more of our students than yours? Why do we produce higher caliber students? Why is our endowment nearly that of yours yet we're twice as small? Why we were ranked higher than you by Black Enterprise the last THREE times rankings were done? Why do we recruit more National Achievement Scholars than Hampton? Why has Oprah donated over $12 million to us and not you? Why can't you just accept that compared to Morehouse, Spelman, Howard, FAMU, and others, you're merely a safety school? Drop it Slim and get over yourself, USNews already has. Holla . . .

Are you serious. Last year Hampton was 5 points behind you, but what difference does that make. Hell, Howard was 100 or so points ahead of the both of us. I guess that means that their the superios school huh. But wait, Black Enterprise ranks them below the both of us... well dayum, that just shoots a hole in ya head doesnt it. I mean, ur using that as a way Hampton is better, but by that same thinking it means that Howards far more superior huh? ****, gedafugoudahea

Hmm, but is Harvard the sole graduate program in the America. I would pick UT - Law School over Harvard Law School. All depends on what you want to be, so that is relative just as your second point is. Seriously, how the hell are you going to judge who produces the higher caliber students. Dayum homie, you really wildin.

Hmm, maybe for the same reason that Howard's endowment is the highest of all hbcu's. Location

see above  although what this means escapes me

Okay and again Howard has even more then the both of us, but again they're ranked lower... hmmm.

****, boy you sick. SAFETY SCHOOL... HAHAHAHAHA. I'm thinkin someone got rejected. As someone who got into both Howard, Hampton and Morehouse, recieving a scholarship from Hampton AND Morehouse, and enough grants and loans to pay for Howard and then some, dont fukkin kid yourself. I chose to come here. So shut that **** down nugga. This clown.

i hate these posts... there is not such thing as an HBCU IVY LEAGUE or an ACADEMICALLY ELITE HBCU... all of em are... each school, from what i have seen by reading these posts, has their own thing that they are really good in that no one else is.. for example.. Xavier= premed.. Tuskegee-prevet...Howard=prelaw..and so forth
