Playoff predictions Posted on 04-19-2005
Hershey's Milk Chocolate

Ok my NBA Heads...playoffs start this sunday. How do you think the playoffs will turn out. I know we are in for surprises, but there are some things that are just obvious will happen. My predictions for round 1: THE EAST: Miami vs. New Jersey: Miami was on a roll this year...they did have the best record in the NBA for a while, but they lost it after a few losses and Phoneix making a good run. I'm so disappointed in New Jersey..went from #2 last year to #8. I don't expect much from them. Jason Kidd and Vince Carter cannot do it by themselves...maybe next year when Jefferson comes back. Miami has too much fire power. Wade and Shaq makes a good combo and will be hard to beat. Miami also has some good defense, so it will be hard for the Nets to do anything good. I see this series as 4-1. Detriot vs. Philly: Detriot right now is on a 10 game winning streak. They are going to hand Inverson and his teams their behinds. AI is still one of the best players in the game today, but to be honest, when he isn't on the court, the team is horrible. Detriot big men (the Wallaces) will give it to them. Hamilton, Prince, Billups....this will be a quick series..a sweep. Boston vs. Indiana: This one is kinda hard for me. I think that Indiana can come out with the win for the series just because they have good young players who have a lot of heart (and hot heads). Boston is a good team...they haven't been this good since 2001-2002. I think this will be an entertaining series. I don't think that Reggie Miller will let his team go out in the first round on his final year. Washington vs. Chicago: This is going to be the best series of this round. I think that Chicago has come up from a long drought (since 98 ). The wizards have been doing the dam thing but so has chicago. Their defense is one of the best in the east. I think this is going to be a series that will go up to game 7. MY WEST PREDICTIONS: Phoenix vs. Memphis: This is going to be a sweep. The Suns have a fast paced game and I don't think that Memphis can handle it. This will be one of the most boring series because it will be a blow out. The only way this will be something to watch is if Nash gets hurts (God forbid). He is the reason why the team has done so well this season anyways. San Antonio vs. Denver: Denver is a good team. They won't be able to beat the Spurs because they have players that are stepping up even when Duncan isn't around. Ginobili, Parker, Horry...this won't be a sweep, but the Spurs will win. Sacramento vs. Seattle: Sacramento is my team, BUT I don't see them beating Seattle. Sacramento doesn't have Peja, but Bibby will be holding them down and so will Mobley, but I just don't see them going away with the win. Dallas vs. Houston: I see this as being one of the best series in the first round. Houston has pick themselves up and have won the last 7 games. T-Mac (my favorite player) brings out the best in his entire team. He has players around that is willing to help out as best they can. I think that Dirk and Finley will work hard to try and spoil Houston's run. I think that T-Mac and Ming will find a way to finally win a first round series.

Yao isn't all he's cracked up to be. He's 7'6" of weakness.

Dallas is so overrated..... come on now... they have no chance against Phoenix... i don't care how well they did w/o Nash... Houston and Dallas are two of the worst good teams around.... the only real team in Texas is San Antonio...

the heat are overated..when the series comes dont be surprised to see detroit winning in five...and who does damon jones think he is..he thinks hes better than he really is and hes gonna come back down to earth real wuick when he plays us...therea a reason why you got shipped around the league that much...but hes better jus because of shaq and he wont get wide open looks against us..whats gonna happen then?
If he doesn't get wide open looks that means D wade or shaq isn't goin to have necessary attention, which means one of the two or both is gonna drop at least 30. And seein that shaq is gonna be 100% by time he gets to detroit (or should I say detroit get to miami cause they have home court advantage), its not gonna be a repeat from last year because the difference between the heat now and the lakers last year is chemistry. Now is damon jones as a individual player, overrated? Nope. He's being the role player that he is. He comes and takes advantage of the looks that his superstars give him. He consistently puts down 10 to 15 points a night. He's doing the same thing as derek fisher did in LA. No one would expect anything more. The difference from his role on his past teams and his current team is that he's playing the SG position and has a PG that knows how to set things up. So with that being said, shaq isn't overrated. D wade is dramatically underrated (he leads his team in scoring and has at least 6 dimes a game). Everybody else complements their superstars like their suposed to and steps up when needed. You gotta give the heat their props, they have mad chemistry. They ran over the east all season like expected. Their not the no. 1 seed for nothing. They handled their business all year w/ or without shaq. Detroit in five games? I guarantee you thats not goin to happen. I don't have a particular pick. I favor the heat, but when it comes down to just overall team play, that series is gone to be a brawl (no pun intened detroit fans).
cosigns... it's clear that the Heat are not overrated, come on... they traded the future for the present, and it has paid nothing but dividends Dwyane Wade is underrated... most slept on star in the playoffs... Shaq is in a whole lot better shape weight wise... and Detroit in five... how bout worrying about another great series w/ the Pacers before looking at the Heat... The Heat did run over the East... Detroit did get it together... but don't look past Washington or Indiana... if it does come down to Miami/Detroit, i'll put the Pistons in SEVEN, not five... that's just asking for too much

What the hell was last night?! This did not look like anything you would see when you watch Game 7's. It lacked drive from both Boston and Houston. To my surprise, a fellow E. Roosevelt Alumni and St. Joe's College Dropout Delonte West impressed me....didn't think he would do a decent job as a rookie (still should have finished his 4 year college). Delonte did not do bad at all in his first year in Boston... there was nothing left for him to do at St. Joe's... The Hawks did a hell of a job w/o him or Jameer when everyone thought they would fall off the face of the earth... NIT runner-ups... he made the right choice by leaving... Yea Yea Yea...Dallas won by 40 points (DAMN HOUSTON :? ). That was the most horrible game I ever watched. This is only the first round and they have to go up against Pheonix. Stodomire is goiing to have a hard time trying to out do Dallas' big men, but I think he will fend for himself. I think this is another game 7 series. I think this will be a harder series for Dallas, but Pheonix will be tested. Phoenix will take this in 5... even though the 1 has beat the 4 12 games to none... Dallas will take at least one game at home... and who does Dallas have besides Erick Dampier? Shawn Bradley??? Alan Henderson??? Dirk is too busy playing the perimeter and is nowhere near tough on the inside... Keith Van Horn... he's moved around so much i forgot where he started when he came out of Utah.... Stoudemire will have no problem... this won't be a seven game series... Phoenix has WAY too much depth... And how about those Wizards...the finally made it to the playoffs and made it out the first round! Too bad their glory will be cut short. Did you see the T-Shirt Antwoine Jamerson was wearing...said ROUND 2! That will be the last shirt they will be making because they are not going to be the Heat. I can agree with that... no need to say anything... Miami went 15-1 against the Southeast Division... the only loss to the Bobcats... w/ Shaq and Wade (had to throw that in) Seattle and San Antonio...This will end at game 6 with San Antonio on top. I think that Ray Allen will do his thang like he been doing, unlike Sacramento, San Antonio has a lot more consistent fire power. This will still be a series to watch. San Antonio is the realest team in the state of Texas... and when they play team ball in the playoffs, they are crazy sick... Parker needs to be more consistent... good thing they have Bowen on D, Ginobili, and D. Brown... yeah, i'll say this goes to six games, but after watching game 1 (or the highlights) Seattle gonna have a tough time tryna shake off them injuries... Detriot and Indiana is going to have a good series also. I think this can go up to game 7. I still think that Reggie is goin' give it to them like he should. Detriot has so much fire power though...Billips, Prince, Hamilton, R. Wallace, B. Wallace....they will give it to them. Jermaine O'Neal, Jackson....and them other thugs should do well, but they are not ready for Detriot....I don't think that they can win 4 games against Detriot. So, the Pacers are thugs just b/c some **** throw beer on the court... but this ain't even about the brawl, i'm going to need the home team to take control of the series though, since the Pacers won two at the Palace, and the Pistons took two at Conseco... since the series was a deadlock, don't sit up here and say the Pacers are capable of winning four against Detroit... that'd just be like saying Detroit can't take four against Indiana... this will go to game 7, it can go the either way...

I dont think Detroit is gonna have it that easy this year like they did last year. They're actually gonna have to play the Pacers, instead of pick fights with em (cough, Ben Wallace, cough)...contrary to popular belief. If Detroit does beat Indiana, I still dont see em getting past Miami. They have no answer for Shaq...and dont even mention Ben Wallace....becuz Shaq was 40lbs heavier AND was waiting on a trade last year when they played the LakeShow in the Finals. Then you got D-Wade....come on cuzz. Its over for the motor city. Sorry fokes. No trophy for you this year.

Man my baby bulls got eliminated.......Next year they gone shoot the number tho. 50 games at least... But in other news I read somebody say that dallas and houston were overrated. I agree with that to a degree. I think it's just that the WEST has so much more talent compared to the east. Both dallas and houston are decent playoff teams. One thing that they don't have, which is more than necessary in the playoffs, is chemistry. That's why the top teams in the league are where they are. Chemistry makes and breaks teams when the hard times come and that's why IMO the EAST has more power when it comes to taking the championship. The west is just overhyped to me.

I'm not gonna say nothin harsh against your comment because I know how people can say crazy stuff about their hometown team. So I respect that but I don't agree one bit. Shaq will do his thing no matter what. Especially if he's all the way recovered. Either way detroit can't stop him fully. And before anyone tries to compare this to detroit against LA they can pause because now detroit is playing against someone with a great amount of chemistry. And that's somethin that LA didn't have at all. I'm not gonna say detroit is gonna lose, but when you talk about matchups it's even besides the edge that shaq automatically gets. D wade is steppin up in the playoffs just like he did last year, his rookie season. He'll continue the shanagans, puttin up at least 20 a game along with 5-10 assists and 5 boards. Gotta give both squads their respect tho, it's even. Just look at what both are doin to their opposition in the playoffs. Look at the experience on both sides. The leaders on both sides. The talent and chemistry. Just give due props.
