I think those that aspire to become of a GLO need to know at least the basic information about the organization, be it the founders, chapter name, chapter founding date, and the organization's basic founding information. I guess being on the internet (and especially this website) just proves how so many of those that aspire do so based on a stereotype of XYZ. That aspirant may become a member, and then be SADLY disappointed in the realities of that organization.

Aspirants owe it to themselves to:
1. Preserve your GPA at all costs
Stay on top of your classes. PERIOD. Put nothing before them. You are in school for an education and a degree. Get BOTH. Greek Letters are nice but don't pay any bills.
2. Do Community Service
Do it now. Do it often. Make it part of your weekly schedule. BGLOs want to see several months of consistent Community Service. Not a whole bunch of hours two or three months before an interest meeting.
3. Be Active On Campus
Join some organizations around your campus. Don't JUST be a member be a worker. Become an part of that organzation. In the end it's far better for GLO's to know you for your hard work around campus and your interest, rather than just your interest alone.
4. Preserve Your Reputation
College is the time to grow and try new things. Maintain some degree of hometraining while you grow into whomever you are going to be. Being the "Star" of someone's video or fighting with your boys every other week is not going to shine a positive light on you. Remember that in all you do you represent yourself and if you have Greek Aspirations your actions will represent and reflect on that chapter and the organization. If you exhibit behaviors that are fundamentally different than the behaviors exhibited by that organization, Please don't be offended when you get rejected.

I'm sure many of you are frantically scouring sites and researching information on various organizations. There is a time and a place for everything. "Study Sessions" are the time for sharing your knowledge of this information. Not at Rush or the Informational or the Chat and Chew or the Tea or whatever events the organization you are interested in may host.

I have another question. As I said before in my intro thread I've been reading the threads for awhile and tried to find on my own the meaning of the acronym "GDI". What does it mean? Being that I'm not greek is this even something you can answer for me?
