Ok I have come to realize that us greeks tend to get stressed out over some of the things that prospects may do or say…simply because they do not know proper protocol. So this thread is for all the greeks to list things that ALL ASPERANTS SHOULD KNOW in terms of proper behavior. (Lets try to keep it simple)
I will begin:
1) Do not go to an interest meeting for more than one org…do your research until you know which one is best for you.
2) If you only want to be greek for the following reasons…then this isn’t for you:
A.Want to join because you like to step
B.Want to get more girls/guys
C.Want to become popular/accepted
3) Do not wear and org’s colors to an interest meeting
4) Do not throw up greek hand signs or do the calls
5) Do not go around telling people what org you are a prospect of.
6) Stay away from the words “ I’m gonna be a ________” or “I’m a future________”
7) Do not cut through party walks or brake lines.
'Tis all for now…
i know im not greek, but dont mind if i add on:
- dont ask about stuff u know or suspect to be secret or possess meaning only known to the members of the organization.
- on campuses, treat greek plots like hot lava. dont step on or stand near them... its a respect thing(and if youre pledging or have plans on doing so, its a commom sense thing).
- discretion is key (the most popular phrase in this section of the cafe).. when its time to make intentions known, youll know.
-just be smart- use your head and you wont embarrass yourself and potentially destroy your chances of being initiated later on down the line.
thats jus sum stuff i kno- holla

ok
but about the not wearing the org's colors at the interest meeting
so what if u wear another orgs colors
aren't the org gonna look at u and says HUH
Change,
I wouldn't wear the colors of another org. at the interest meeting either. I stuck with "colors of fair play" (as a Delta told me to), but not black.
Anyway, here's my list:
When interested
1. Don't come up to Greeks talking senseless babble.
2. Stick with telling people you know about your interests (don't trust just anyone with your aspiration to be in XYZ)
3. Don't ask a Greek, "so...what makes your organization better than the others?" It may sound silly but someone has done that to me
4. Avoid bad mouthing those that are in the org. You never know who is listening.
5. Be you. You can trust that someone has seen you being you anyway.
6. Don't be afraid to speak, just be mindful of what you say
1. Ask questions but not too many questions. Also know the appropriate time and questions to ask. A serious aspirant knows the difference between a "silly" question and a serious question...I think
Appropriate question:What are some of the projects you all are working on this semester? <---if someone gives you flack for asking something as simple as that(considering you are serious about pursuing the org) then just shrug it off and move on. I know when I was in undergrad we always had display boards with facts about our chapter/sorority as a whole. We also handed out pamphlets of our projects for the semester.
Inappropriate question:How much does it cost? <---got a lot of that while in undergrad. You don't need to know any of that until you get an acceptance letter. Sometimes they'll give you a good estimate at the Smoker (Rush)
2. A good way to get to know other Greeks is by becoming involved with other orgs on your campus. However, remember the appropriate time to ask them questions
3.When in doubt, don't ask. Even if you feel like it's a legitimate question. Not everyone will give the response you seek and not all of them will do it nicely :-( but that's life. And also for the ones who are shy/too nervous to ask, research it on your own. Chances are, you'll find what you're looking for...that is, if it's meant to be found *wink*
4. MAKE YOUR PRESENCE KNOWN. When you see a member of the org of your interest, smile and SPEAK. I don't care what kind of 'tude you may think they have or how they carry themselves. When I was an aspirant, I thought the girl who'd later become my prophyte, was the evilest lookin chic on campus. But promise everytime I saw her I said "hey". THAT SIMPLE. Attend the events sponsored by the org. There are simple ways to make your interest known without blurting it out to everyone
5.Don't assume you know everything. Marinate on that one as it pertains to you.
Some of you have PM'ed me with legit questions. Feel free to do so if you are unclear about anything.
Good thread, Soror. Should've been a sticky
  The color thing is funny. I remember when I was an interest and went to the Greek Symposium. Firstly, EVERYONE and they MAMA was there. Seriously. Secondly, it was soooo obvious that everyone was trying not to wear the color of any org. All you saw was a sea of black, white, and gray.
Hmm....let's see if I can't contribue to the topic at hand...
~DON'T be all up on a member of the org you're interested in. Not only does that make you MAD obvious but it also makes you MAD annoying.(I knew a girl like that...the MOMENT I started rockin' 'nalia to class she was all on me...dang sis...let me breathe!)
~DO be very mindful of your presence on campus. If you're known by MANY as a hoe, freak, or just plain easy....that WILL impact your chances w/ the org.
That's all for now. Everyone seems to have covered the crucial ones. I'll post more as/if it comes to me.
Peace&Blessings....
