Prospect Protocol Posted on 06-17-2005

Ok I have come to realize that us greeks tend to get stressed out over some of the things that prospects may do or say…simply because they do not know proper protocol. So this thread is for all the greeks to list things that ALL ASPERANTS SHOULD KNOW in terms of proper behavior. (Lets try to keep it simple) I will begin: 1) Do not go to an interest meeting for more than one org…do your research until you know which one is best for you. 2) If you only want to be greek for the following reasons…then this isn’t for you: A.Want to join because you like to step B.Want to get more girls/guys C.Want to become popular/accepted 3) Do not wear and org’s colors to an interest meeting 4) Do not throw up greek hand signs or do the calls 5) Do not go around telling people what org you are a prospect of. 6) Stay away from the words “ I’m gonna be a ________” or “I’m a future________” 7) Do not cut through party walks or brake lines. 'Tis all for now…

I have a few rules especially for guys. 1. When you go to an interest meeting/informational and it call for professional/business attire please wear at least a shirt and tie. I know some of us don't always own a coat, but a shirt and tie will suffice. 2. Aspirants don't ask me questions over the internet that you could easily go on my national website and find the answer to. 3. Aspirants if the answer is not on my national website then don't ask me at all because it might be something that you don't need to know. 4. Also for aspirants if your school has events like an organizational fair or meet the GREEKs please make your presence known at everyone's table. I remember onetime at Meet The Greeks when it was time to go around to the tables after hearing a rep from each organization speak a group of girls rushed to the AKA table and then a group rushed the Delta table. We watch that stuff so don't take it personal when you cross something else and get called out about it.

I'm not understanding what you mean by this advice. Are you saying that when a school has a meet the Greeks function, that people should kind of mingle at every Greeks table and not just single out one organization? So you are saying that it makes it obvious what "specific" Greek organization a person wants to pledge if they just go to one table. Now... another question. Is it wrong to go to more than one informational/interest meeting to see what each organization has to say or to find out info? Since you said that people should go to more than one greek table at a meet and greet, then is it okay if people go to more than one interest meeting?

I just want to give you some advice from my point of view... I don't think its a good idea to visit or go to more than one intrest meeting, due to the fact that by the time you are ready to go to an intrest meeting you should have allllll ready did your research and have made up your mind on the one organization that you would like to be a part of, I hope this helped.

To put it plainly, going to "EVERYBODY'S" interest meeting is like dating everybody on the yard. Sure it's you're decision of how indiscriminate you are but expect to be talked about. Amongst the greeks of course b/c GDIs won't care about it.
This is so true... I have seen a few young ladies that were embarrassed because they came to the intrest mtg for XYZ and they came out on the line for ABC.... and they were called out.....this ladies and gents is not a good look so please be true to yourself when you began to strive for a particular organization.
