:-D
I JUST got an inside confirmation or two that my son is an "invited" Alpha!!!!! (he is going to go for it)
He got two "invites" which was nice. I actually helped him a little so, what I want to know how much should I budget for these expenses? My son has no idea (obviously)...so your help would be great.
If I got the terminology mixed up forgive me...I am just SOOOO happy for him!
AKAtude:
You gotta help me....please (yes, I am begging you  ) Is it Benjamins? Grants?
Is it all at once...ongoing...advance notice? You know I gotta get next semester's high **** (excuse my language) tuition' together...
Shall I make this a Christmas present? Help...momma don't like financial surprises. I like to plan ahead.
FYPM:
I am in touch with the HBCUCONNECT powers that be... I am ok at this point...thanks to the great "kids" on this site. The support public and private is all good 8) .
Well, if you decide to not baby him along the way and have him cry home to "Mom" at the slightest bit of trouble...I'm looking for some temporary construction workers at my weekend job. No previous experience...12 hour days, I pay $18.50 an hour IF he really is a HU student. Gotta work Saturday & Sunday though. Will hire bi-weekly.
Clarity:
Son get's significant funds already on the regular because hubby and I believe that his "job" is his school.
He get's about $300 to $400 per month. My hubby thinks it's like half that and hubby is not happy about that...shhh.
We are shipping him a car because things are a little dangerous. He has full meals and we pay 100% tuition, fees, books, travel and so on so forth.
I send him monthly care packages, like mother's do, so I am not sure if I have to do more with his latest success.
FYPM:
I just saw your post before I hit submit...I DO "baby" him but when it comes to this Greek stuff and other "life passages" son is "all-man". My hubby and his dad told me last year that I had no place in son's Greek transition .
Actually, son has a tad bit of "bad" in him...I attribute it to him California upbringing and to the times he commandered with his rough **** cousins from the deep east of Oakland..."pookie & em" fo sho.
He got that good old "act right" from his Jack and Jill, private school, cotillion and other black middle class days but mainly...you would not know it! Cause he be actin like this alot... :?

Sorry, College Mom, but I've heard enough this time. ENOUGH! :x:x:x Shoot, keep talkin' like you livin' larger than my moms. Trust me, you ain't, but who'd ever guess comparing the care packages for me and the "baby". I guess I'll never understand any of that "Black" shyt. *calm down, calm down*
I hate being a culture mutt. I'm gonna move to Nigeria and find me a wife.
I paid my way myself. My mom didn't even know i was pledging until i was about 1/2-3/4ths of the way through.
I'm not hating on the fact that your son has a financially stable background but i do believe certain things he should work for, or at least pay the majority of. He'll appreciate it more in the end plus it'll teach him to stand on his own two feet and be a man.
You shouldn't give him any extra.... if he really wanted this he would have been smart enough to save up what u have been giving him, budgeting for the future so that he could do this.
If worse comes to worse if his LBs are really his LBs then they got his back...
and yeah it ain't cheap but it really depends on the chapter.
