Job Description
Electronic Industrial Controls Mechanic
The position performs above the journeyman level work in the maintenance, repair, programming and operation of air conditioning, DDC controls, ventilation and refrigeration equipment. These systems are vital in the treatment, comfort and safety of the patients and staff of the Medical Center.

The electronic Industrial Control Mechanic works on highly complex systems of electronic sensing and control. The incumbent installs, maintains, repairs, programs and operates the campus-wide Building Automation System (BAS). Incumbent will be solely responsible for the entire integrated BAS network.

Incumbent must has have a thorough knowledge of logic circuits, of electronic amplification, and control circuits, and of complex electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and/or pneumatic systems. Incumbent observes and interprets data generated by the Medical Centers' BAS and adjusts and repairs equipment to ensure optimum efficiency, and maximize energy usage. All other related duties as assigned.
"Contract Officer Representative (COR) Certification will be required within 6 months of employment."

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. However, subject to changed based on the needs of the facility.

EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C.

SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

Physical Requirements:
Climbing, working in cramped positions, and restricted spaces. Moving and ability to lift minimum of 50 pounds of equipment in the repairing and installation of HVAC equipment. Incumbent, in making repairs and installations, works from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms. Equipment is sometimes located in hard-to-reach places and stooping, stretching, bending, and kneeling are frequently performed for extended periods of time in making repairs.

Preferred Experience:
Strong understanding of JCI Metasys Systems.
Universal CFC Certification

Working Conditions:
Varying extremes of weather and temperature variations. Incumbent is subject to dusty atmospheres, cuts, and bruises, electrical shocks, falls from ladders or scaffolding, eye and hand injuries from power driven machines and hand tools, and to communicable diseases while working on the wards. Incumbent may be subject to escaping gases when working with, around, or near refrigerants.
