DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
  • Analyzes complex technology issues and related patents 
  • Manages outside counsel in all facets of complex litigation
  • Fully conversant with design and operation of company products
  • Performs diverse and complex legal tasks within and between specialty areas
  • Partners with senior leadership to develop strategy in response to claims and cases
  • Drafts and negotiates license agreements or other high-risk settlement agreements
  • Works closely with engineering departments and parent company on product technology issues that may impact claims or litigation
  • Responds to legal inquiries from Nintendo Company Limited (NCL), and Nintendo of America, Inc. (NOA) personnel
  • Communicates with and directs outside contacts, including outside counsel, with respect to litigation, risk management, intellectual property, and/or contract matters
  • Negotiates, monitors, and reports on adverse claims prior to and during litigation relating to the company’s personnel, property, goods or services
  • Reviews company activities and policies for legal compliance and adherence to domestic and foreign governmental policies and regulations
  • Provides legal advice to company departments, subsidiaries, and affiliates
  • Develops and conducts in-house training seminars
  • Maintains knowledge of current legal issues
  • Develops and leads cross functional project teams
  • May supervise direct or dotted-line report employees.
  • Up to 20% travel

Qualifications & Requirements
SUMMARY OF REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum ten years of relevant experience
    as a practicing lawyer with increasing levels of responsibility for
    complex casework
  • Working knowledge of a variety of legal areas
    including
    intellectual property, patent and
    commercial litigation, and product liability issues 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Law degree
  • Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer
    Science or significant software experience; computer industry experience
    desirable; advanced technical degree a plus
  • Membership in the Washington State Bar Association
    or other comparable state qualification
