The worldwide pioneer in the creation of interactive entertainment, Nintendo Co., Ltd., of Kyoto, Japan, manufactures and markets hardware and software for its Nintendo Switch system and the Nintendo 3DS family of portable systems. Since 1983, when it launched the Nintendo Entertainment System, Nintendo has sold more than 4.4 billion video games and more than 700 million hardware units globally, including Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo 3DS family of systems, as well as the Game Boy, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS family of systems, Super NES, Nintendo 64, Nintendo GameCube, Wii and Wii U systems. It has also created industry icons that have become well-known, household names, such as Mario, Donkey Kong, Metroid, Zelda and Pokémon.  A wholly owned subsidiary, Nintendo Technology Development, based in Redmond, Washington, creates future hardware/software technology and researches North American-based technologies.

The audio team at NTD is looking for a developer to help build the lowest layers of the audio software stack. This role will be responsible for implementing new features or tests, solving issues reported from the field, and collaborating with other members of the team.

  • Design, develop, and debug audio subsystem software for game consoles
  • Implement or prototype audio processing algorithms or port to different platforms
  • Prioritize tasks to enable high level of efficiency
  • Constantly learning and looking for improved solutions

Qualifications & Requirements
  • 5 years of software development
  • Excellent programming skills in C and C
  • Strong understanding of digital audio processing
  • Solid understanding of multi-core SOC device and
    low-level kernel software
  • Experience writing and debugging multi-process
    and multi-threaded applications
  • Knowledge of digital audio effects, spatial
    audio, audio codec, or voice/speech related technology is a plus
  • Experience developing real-time audio software
  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer
    Science or related field; MS preferred
