Description The University of Notre Dame seeks applications for the position of Assistant Professor of the Practice (full-time regular faculty, non-tenure track), for a violinist/violist, with the position slated to begin August 2019. The successful candidate will be an exceptional performing artist and pedagogue, with a record of excellence and experience in collegiate teaching and stellar performance achievements at the national or international level. The faculty violinist/violist is expected to maintain an ongoing professional performing career. Teaching load will include: private studio violin and viola instruction to performance majors and advanced undergraduate non-majors; related teaching including Chamber Music and Studio Classes. Additional duties include adjudication of auditions; evaluation of undergraduate admissions recordings and juries; attendance at degree recitals; oversight of adjunct faculty student assignments; service on department, college, and university committees. Qualifications: M.M. required; D.M.A. or equivalent professional experience preferred. Candidates committed to teaching music in a liberal arts context are particularly encouraged to apply, as are those with expertise in viola as well as violin.
