The University of Notre Dame (ND.jobs) is accepting applications for a Advisor, Talent Search (TRiO).

The Advisor for Talent Search, a federally-funded TRiO Program will provide academic, career, and financial counseling to students in grades 7th-12th - encouraging them to graduate from high school while encouraging participants to successfully pursue and complete post-secondary education. The Advisor is responsible for fully implementing Talent Search program activities and initiatives within assigned local high schools and intermediate centers. The Advisor will work in collaboration with other Talent Search Advisors to meet the objectives identified in the program's grant as well as, serve alongside the staff of the Notre Dame Upward Bound program. The Talent Search Advisor will report directly to the Associate Director of Talent Search with ad hoc duties assigned by the Director and the Assistant Director of TRiO Programs.
Additional duties are as follows:
Responsible for executing the Program's plan to identify, recruit, and select a complete cohort of Talent Search participants at assigned high schools and middle schools, which include developing strong working relationships with target school administrators, counselors, and staff.
Planning and conducting workshops related to college and career planning, the college selection process, and financial aid at assigned high schools and intermediate centers.
Assess individual participant needs and monitor the academic progress of each cohort participant while they are enrolled in the Talent Search program (i.e. provide guidance to participants on course selection, referrals to academic tutoring, and other services as needed).
Plan and staff college campus visits as well as, social and cultural activities that will enhance the intellectual, social, and cultural enrichment/development of participants; Serve as a liaison to other community programs, agencies and educational institutions, as assigned.
Maintain complete and accurate student and financial management of records in accordance to DOE guidelines and University policies.
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Education or related field required.Knowledge of Indiana Core 40, college admissions and financial aid processes and procedures is vital.Excellent organizational, communication, writing and computer skills are required.Candidate must be informed about and able to integrate appropriate technologies into the program and services as well as be knowledgeable of policies and procedures.Candidate must have knowledge of current academic and counseling strategies to facilitate successful achievement.Candidates must also demonstrate an ability and sensitivity to working with students from first generation, low-income, and other underrepresented populations.Candidate must possess discretion, sound judgment, and solid decision making skill.Must possess a valid drivers license.

Preferred Qualifications:
Masters Degree in Education or related field preferred.One to three years of experience working with middle and/or high school students and educational administrators is desired.Experience within a college preparatory TRiO program is highly preferred.Candidates must be sensitive to/aware of the needs of a diverse population, able to speak in front of groups, know the fundamentals of counseling and preparing presentations.Bilingualism and grant writing experience highly desirable.
