Job Description
Food Service Worker
  • Portions and delivers nourishment to the patients.
  • Sets up trays, or cafeteria line with hot and cold foods, service ware, dispensing equipment; supplies line during meal.
  • Stocks shelves, assists in storage of subsistence and operating supplies.
  • Works in dish room, scraps soiled trays, stacking dishes in preparatory to placing in dish machine.
  • Sets up, loads and operates dishwashers; washes pot and pans, operates the utensil washer.
  • Assists with the clean-up of any area assigned to, sweeps and mops food service preparation areas, performs special cleaning of equipment, delivers supplies and hauls trash.
  • Cleans food storage, production and service areas, equipment and floors.
  • Delivers supplemental feedings and nourishment/snacks to designated patients care areas.
  • Transport meals to patient bedside and to other buildings outside the main hospital; and retrieves meal trays transporting to the cleaning areas. This involves possession of a current valid state driver's license to use government vehicles.
  • Sets up various tray lines; places correct food item in the correct portion on tray according to computer generated tray ticket or written menu.
  • Observes and learns to serve patients, beneficiaries or other meal recipients on cafeteria lines, dishing up salads and desserts.
  • Portions desserts in standardized quantities for dining room and cafeteria meal service using established food handling methods.
  • Performs heavy duty cleaning task throughout the food service and related areas such as cleaning ceilings, side window, exhaust hoods, walls, mopping floors and cleaning walk-in refrigerators and freezers.


Work Schedule: Part Time, (20 hours per week) various and rotating shifts including weekends and holidays.

NOTE: This is a Part-time position (20/hours/week). Benefits and time-off accrual will be prorated and based on your part-time work schedule.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT : The work duties require constant standing, walking, frequent bending, stooping, pushing heavy food trucks, frequent lifting or moving up to 40 pounds and occasional lifting or moving of objects over 45 pounds.

WORK CONDITIONS:
Work mainly performed in an institutional kitchen environment with the usual hazards of noise, steam, heat, cold, wet floors, sharps blades, cleaning and sanitizing chemicals, and commercial food preparation equipment
