Job Description
Program Support Assistant

Responsible for the overall administrative and technical support for HCHV and Suicide Prevention Program, including administrative support for the Program Managers/Coordinators and staff members, e.g., Social Workers, Psychologists, Nurses, Peer Support Specialist. Provides administrative assistance to the Administrative Officer of Mental Health Service as needed, e.g., assisting with Space Committee Planning and Requests; non-Homeless/SP and physicians meetings minutes; administrative tracking and problem solving with Homeless Performance Measures; inventory of government equipment at the clinic; research for new equipment purchase; property excess equipment; and various Medical Center Projects, i.e., Combined Federal Campaign, MOVE, Employee surveys. Performs well-defined data analysis in relation to and support of the multiple and varied HCHV programs to determine that patient follow-up's are completed. Collects patient data relating to the Mental Health Initiatives; diagnostic assessment; documented procedural terminology code for procedures based upon procedure(s) performed; assessed and documented diagnoses; and initial treatment plan, including scheduled appointments and follow-ups as it relates to the Homeless Program and it's subprograms. Analyzes quality and quantity trends, creates and distributes weekly/monthly reports to the Coordinators ensuring confidentiality of data security is maintained.

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.



You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:

  • Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-5 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to. experience maintaining a database system; tracking and logging suspense items; scheduling appointments; coordinating meetings ; maintaining an efficient filing and reference system for all files; using automated data processing equipment to generate a variety of reports & typing letters.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary in nature and requires no physical demands. It will include walking, stooping, bending, sitting, or carrying of light items. May be required to lift up to 40 pounds with the aid of a hand truck, dolly, or floor jack.
