Job Description
Supervisor Medical Support Assistant
  • Supervise all activities of subordinate medical support assistant.
  • Effective selection, training and utilization of assigned staff as well as serving as the subject matter expert to all medical support assistant.
  • Coordinating schedules and assignments with ward supervisory staff and Lead Medical support assistant and adjusting as needed.
  • Serve on Medical Center Committees as needed, and prepare various reports in area of expertise.
  • Supervises a staff of employees to accomplish the work of the organizational unit.
  • Exercises supervisory authorities and responsibilities involving work assignment and review, as well as the administrative and personnel management functions relative to the staff supervised.
  • Responsible for the supervision of the Primary Care and Specialty Service Scheduling Center otherwise known as Team Access


Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday 7:30 am - 4:00 pm

  • One year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level.

    Grade Determinations: Candidates must demonstrate the KSAs below:

    1. Ability to collaborate, communicate, set priorities, and organize the work to meet deadlines, ensuring compliance with established processes, policies, and regulations.

    2. Ability to communicate tactfully and effectively, both orally and in writing, to meet program objectives. This may include preparing reports in various formats and presenting data to various organizational levels.

    3. Advanced knowledge of the technical health care process as it relates to access to care.

    4. Advanced knowledge of managing a clinic. This includes independently utilizing reference sources, decision making, and empowering the team to collaborate and resolve problems within a complex systems environment.

    5. Advanced knowledge of policies and procedures associated with operational activities that affect the patient flow, patient care, and the revenue process.

    6. Advanced knowledge of medical terminology due to the technical nature of language utilized by clinicians.


    The full performance level of this vacancy is GS-07.

    Physical Requirements: Working requires some walking, standing, and bending, all though it is considered primarily sedentary. Periods of sitting may be required for typing and data entry. Walking to various locations of medical center with records of patients, consultations, supplies, etc. as necessary
