The Logistics Management Specialist collaborates with the Chief Supply Chain Officer (CSCO), Senior Management leadership, Veterans Integrated Service Network staff (VISN), Veterans Health Administration (VHA) program office and Senior Management and leadership in supported activities developing supply chain management strategies in support of f the VA Health Care System and supported catchment area. This position is responsible for ensuring fully prepared Supply Chain Management (SCM) personnel and equipment for the Emergency Medical Response Team (EMRT). Develops assigned Supply Chain metrics which identify business objectives and drives the right supply chain behaviors for planning and executing approved strategies and providing supply chain expertise to improve supply availability with a focus on getting the right material, at the right time and right place to support the health care system.

The major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Resolves or contributes to the resolution of assigned high-priority logistics, supply, distribution, information or service problems through personal action or immediate coordination with required local personnel/activities.
  • Establishes procedures for the integrated efforts of SCM operations with services throughout the VAMC and supported activities for mission essential deployment of SCM EMRT planning.
  • Develops designated supply input for fiscal year and long-range plans and programs, analyzing material for reasonableness, consistency, and validity of various assumptions.
  • Provides technical assistance within the areas of logistics planning, logistics integration, support and requirements; including supply, procurement, disposal and reutilization, hazmat handling, storage and stockage?.etc.
  • Reviews and analyzes facility operations developing solutions to problems as well as identifying long and short-range goals and objectives helping to formulate the overall logistics strategic plan based on significant analysis of trends within the local, regional and national supply chain.

Minimum Requirement:
Specialized Experience (GS-12): One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-11) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
  • Serving as an integrator and/or facilitator for supply chain management customers.
  • Resolving logistics, supply, distribution, information and service problems.
  • Recommending changes to procurement actions such as quantity increases, cancelations, cutbacks, delivery rates and ordering periods.
  • Providing technical assistance in the areas of logistics planning, integration support and requirements.
  • Developing supply chain metrics which identify business objectives.
