Director, Masters in Public Health Programs; Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Public Health
The Department of Nutrition and Public Health at the University of Saint Joseph is seeking applicants for a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track position as Assistant or Associate Professor of Public Health to begin August 2019. The department offers undergraduate programs in public health major, dietetics, health science, a nutrition and wellness track, a post-graduate accredited dietetic internship, and online master’s degrees in nutrition, and Public Health (MPH) program to begin in Fall, 2020. Faculty within the department also conduct research with several active funded grants.

Position Description
The person in this position will join the faculty of the Nutrition and Public Health Department. As Director of the Masters in Public Health Program, this faculty will provide leadership and administrative guidance to implement the graduate public health program, and in conjunction with the Director of the Bachelor of Science in Public Health program, fulfill requirements to seek future accreditation with the Council on Education in Public Health. The Director is also responsible for program reports, program curriculum, procurement and management of resources, management of preceptorships, and student advisement. This faculty will teach both undergraduate on-campus and graduate online classes with the goal of preparing highly qualified public health practitioners. Responsibilities as a USJ Professor comprise active participation in department, school, and university activities and committees. In accordance with the University’s mission, faculty members are also responsible for advancing development in pedagogy, scholarship, mentoring student research, and service to the university and affiliated communities.
Qualifications & Requirements
Qualifications include an earned Dr.P.H or Ph.D in public health or a related field. Candidates with a clinical doctorate and M.P.H. will also be considered. The ideal candidate will have experience in on-campus and online teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level, previous experience working in the public health field, and experience in program administration. Research or practice experience in epidemiology, infectious or chronic disease, biostatistics, health policy and administration, occupational health or a related field, with demonstrated potential for grant funded scholarship, community engagement, and publications, are preferred. Candidates should have experience and skills necessary to work with an increasingly diverse student body and neighboring communities.
