Senior Strategy Associate

As part of those efforts, CBRE’s Digital and Technology team is looking to hire an Investment Analyst to join our team. The position will be responsible for researching trends, analyzing opportunities, validating companies and product offerings, and presenting build, buy, partner recommendations. The role will engage with a thriving commercial real estate (CRE) technology ecosystem and prospect all relevant participants from large technology companies to start-ups and renowned VCs. Additionally, the role will work internally within Digital & Technology and business stakeholders to execute against a well-defined digital strategy. This Dallas-based position will report to the Global Director, Digital & Technology, with significant exposure to senior technology and business leaders, including the C-suite.


You will be playing a hands-on role across a range of activities and executing on best practices helping position CBRE as a world-class company. This will include exposure in three major areas:

  1. Stakeholder alignment
  • Collaborate with various key stakeholders (Digital & Technology, Corporate Strategy & Development, and line of business leadership) and external (VCs, start-ups, incubators, etc.) to confirm key risks and opportunities for future analysis purposes
  • Maintain continuous alignment with key stakeholders ensuring that the value is quantified and clearly outlined in the analysis

  • Lead structured deal review process as well as documentation creation in order to present build, buy, partner recommendations

2. Opportunity engagement

  • Leverage decision frameworks and perform data-driven analyses to evaluate emerging technology partnership opportunities
  • Create best practice pilot and integration methodologies to improve effectiveness of go-to-market strategies for investment opportunities

  • Complete commercial and operational due diligence for investment opportunities

3. Ecosystem Analysis

  • Perform in-depth industry examination and producing written research/analysis utilized by our executives and key stakeholders to support and promote investment decisions, including: memos, white papers, blog posts, executive summaries, and marketing presentations
  • Conduct market research on the real estate and technology sectors and mapping out target investment categories

  • Provide a deep analysis of selected start-up companies and form recommended next steps

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or university
  • MBA and/or Masters’ / PhD in Computer Science or related field, preferred

  • 1-3 years of relevant experience, preferably with experience managing teams (consulting, entrepreneurship/start-ups, VC/PE, corporate venture capital, real estate, investment banking)

  • Demonstrated ability to solve a wide range of conceptual and analytical problems

  • Experience with startups, VCs, and incubators to develop partnerships and making investments

  • Outstanding analytical and quantitative skills with an emphasis on being detail-oriented, proactive, and self-motivated

  • Understanding of technology and its ability to address business challenges or create new business models

  • Ability to balance long-term strategic value with short-term business needs and contribute to end-to-end build, buy, partner processes

  • Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to perform a deep analysis and articulate information concisely and precisely to various types of audiences

  • Ability to work in ambiguous situations to translate ideas into actionable recommendations under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Demonstrated command of written and oral communication and strong business writing skills

  • Ability to act like an investor – bringing an entrepreneurial mindset and boundless energy and optimism

  • High degree of self-confidence, honesty and personal integrity
