Job Description
TA Specialist
The position of Technical Assistance Specialist at CAST is responsible for implementing the organization’s orienting vision for professional training and technical assistance (TA). We partner with practitioners and field experts to verify that our training and TA are outcome-based and effective at transforming educational practice and creating systemic change.

CAST has two TA centers: National Center on Accessible Educational Materials for Learning (National AEM Center) and Center on Inclusive Technology & Education Systems (CITES). The TA Specialist hired for this open position will be primarily assigned to CITES and some responsibilities on the AEM Center.

• Coordinates with project leadership and the TA team to ensure effective, ongoing TA activities aligned to the goals of the projects
• Identifies and builds upon the existing strengths of TA recipients to understand, select, use, and sustain evidence-based practices
• Facilitates targeted changes in TA recipients’ practices and develops new processes that can be adopted and scaled to improve educational systems
• Applies adult learning principles in the design and delivery of all TA products and services
Qualifications & Requirements
• A Master’s degree or higher
• Experience in technical assistance project design and service delivery
• Experience with both assistive and educational technology implementation in state and local K-12 systems
• Experience with K-12 educational law and policy
• Experience working with adult learners and implementation of adult learning principles
• Experience with collecting and reporting data for project performance evaluation

Knowledge & Skills
• Superior communication skills including listening, demonstrating respect for differing opinions, and clarity of expression
• Knowledge of accessibility law, policy, and standards, including Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
• Creating accessible materials, such as documents, slide decks, and video
• Understanding of or willingness to learn the core concepts and basic neuroscience of Universal Design for Learning

• Demonstrated ability to work remotely
• Ability to travel nationally, as needed to support project activities (once the consensus of public health experts indicates that it is safe to do so and CAST leadership permits business travel)
