Job Description
Sr. Sales Contract Manager

The Sr. Sales Contract Manager is a critical part of the CMD Commercial Excellence team and responsible for leading the organization into a more contemporary model around contract management with customers. This role will be focused on critical market segments but with the goal of translating improvements to the entire Division. This role should have a deep understanding of how contract management and contemporary tools can implemented and optimized for speed and mutual risk sharing with our customers.

This can be remote anywhere in the US.


  • Establish contract management cycle time baseline for our critical market segments and develop roadmap to drive to 24 hr contract cycle time.
  • Design, develop frame agreement process to be applied to these segments, as well as all of CMD. Ensure touch points are integrated with existing business processes, approval authority matrixes and functional stakeholders.
  • Help facilitate effort with Sales Team to enlist customers to sign up to new contract management model. Participate in customer negotiations, redlines, applying fall back positions to drive to mutual agreement.
  • Work with Legal and other stakeholder functions to drive simplified T&C document to use in the critical market segments.
  • Work with other Thermo Fisher divisions as appropriate to drive to a common approach on T&Cs with common customers.
  • Represent this initiative on supporting operating rhythms for fast resolution such as Executive T&C Risk Reviews, SBRs, etc. as appropriate.
  • Develop risk position matrix for CMD with fallback matrix.
  • Ability to coach, mentor other contract management team members.
  • Ability to develop, implement and train sales organization on contracts, risk management and why it is important.


  • Minimum education required - Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field
  • 8+ years of experience in contract management including demonstrating sound knowledge of contract negotiation & management
  • Must be a self-starter who can work alone or in a team environment
  • Strong Word, Excel (and Microsoft Office) knowledge
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced global environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal), along with demonstrated ability to build positive professional relationships, influence leaders and use negotiation skills with various levels in the organization is required.
  • Must be able to negotiate with external customer in professional manner
  • Strong executive presence
  • Salesforce.com knowledge is preferred
  • Leadership of contract management teams is preferred
