Accounts Receivable Staff Accountant

 

Description:

 

The Accounts Receivable Staff Accountant plays a key role in providing billing, collection and accounting support for the company’s merchandise and marketing vendor-funded programs. Primary responsibilities include sending out monthly billings, applying cash receipts, partnering with both internal and external business partners, and applying basic accounting skills. This position executes on deliverables that have a direct impact on the Company’s financial performance and comes with the opportunity to interact with peers and leaders throughout the organization.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complete required billings/collections and cash application
  • Communicate with internal and external business partners to support billing and collection efforts
  • Support the Company’s store purchase order program
  • Manage coupon collection and related audits
  • Prepare daily journal entries to support departmental processes
  • Complete month end journal entries and tasks for each accounting close cycle
  • Prepare general ledger account reconciliations on a monthly basis
  • Ability to analyze data and make recommendations to improve processes in department
  • Complete all assigned ad hoc projects

 

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree – Accounting or Finance preferred
  • 2+ years of accounting or finance experience preferred
  • Microsoft Excel skills (i.e. vlookups, pivot tables, sum-ifs, etc)
  • Basic accounting knowledge (debit v. credit)
  • Ability to multi-task with strong attention to detail
